Things look good, in that it seems I have temporary contract work lined up for when I arrive to Washington, D.C., and I won't have to worry about looking for a job right away. I'll have a couple of months to get my bearings, make new contacts, and pursue permanent employment, and I'll be bringing in an income. All good things.

For now, I maintain the status quo. I had expected that this contract work would start sooner - before the move - but I think it's probably for the best that it doesn't. Even if I managed to find the extra time to do the work, my stress level is through the roof right now. It affects my productivity. I am about to embark on this huge, life-changing event, and I need the emotional stamina to deal with that.

So for now, I just need to get through things day-by-day. Lance's current project is to get a quote for shipping my car across the country. And perhaps he'll even get a date set up for that. I have one of those Groupon-type vouchers (it's LivingSocial, I think) to get the car detailed. It was actually something I got for Lance for Christmas last year (and it expires December 20th), but he wants me to use it to have my car thoroughly cleaned and detailed before it's put on a car carrier and transported to D.C. By the time it gets there, though, it'll probably be really dirty anyway.

And I guess we need to decide if we're handling the move ourselves or having the military hire professional movers for us. If we do it ourselves, we need to start contacting companies for quotes.

On a completely unrelated note, I just realized that it's now less than 3 weeks until Thanksgiving. I usually start planning Thanksgiving dinner at least a month in advance, but I really haven't thought about it as much as I usually would have by now. I started a list of things to cook/buy, but then I got distracted. Guess I better get on that. We are going grocery shopping tomorrow, so I suppose I should start picking up some things. There's just three of us, so I need to get a small breast or maybe a turkey tenderloin. I guess I'll see what's available when we go to the store.
