A November Saturday

Happy November! I'm glad Halloween is over, because now I can focus on my favorite holiday - Thanksgiving! It's not that I don't love Christmas...I do, but Thanksgiving was always the big holiday in my family. Things have changed. Lance and I will be out here and we won't be with our families. But I still love everything about it and I love that it's the kickoff to the holiday season. It's the start of an entire month of decadence.

I put my little felt turkey up on the mantel. Oh, and I forgot about my little ghost on top of the entertainment center. Better put him away until next year.

Trick or treaters started arriving last night around 6:45 or so. I think I passed out candy until 8:30, and then I just got tired of it and the dog was getting antsy, so we turned off all the lights. Lance kept peeking outside and saw trick or treaters walking around until nearly 10. That seems crazy to me. We have a reasonable amount of candy left over. Lance has put quite a dent in it already. We spent most of our evening sitting in the dark watching E! - Chelsea Lately, The Soup, etc.

I think we went to bed around midnight. Slept ok. Reece decided to join us in bed at 7:00 or so, and we all snuggled together for an hour. She went back to sleep. Lance was on the phone with his Mom. I was just ruminating on some things.

So it's been a fairly leisurely morning. Lance is watching the Minnesota - Northwestern game. We have to run down to McChord to pick up his dry cleaning (why he can't get his uniforms dry cleaned somewhere close to home, I've no idea). We'll have lunch either on the way down or there at McChord, but frankly, I get tired of the food court. I would love to stop at Olive Garden for lunch.

I got an email from Ruth this morning. I haven't heard from her in quite some time. She's usually very good about keeping up her correspondence, but she also takes long trips and has a fairly steady stream of guests coming and going. Which was precisely why I haven't heard from her. And I totally understand that. I've just been worried since I haven't heard anything. She gave me some great news - she'll probably be back here in Seattle in March!!! So I'm hoping we'll be able to get together like we did when she was here in January. That was such an amazing day, even though it was pretty chilly out. Ruth always knows the best places to eat...and now that I have heard of a great tapas restaurant that we can try, we can go there. We always did love our tapas.

I called my Mom, who is over at Grandma's this weekend, and she wants me to come down to Houston in February. Mom and Rob will be down there visiting Rob's dad for his birthday. I'm tempted to go, since Houston should be warm and it's a shorter flight. But I also wouldn't get to see the rest of my Ohio family. I just know I'm going to take some time off in February or March, and my brother has been trying to convince me to see him in Los Angeles too. So I'm not really sure what to do or where to go.

Lance is happy now. Minnesota pulled ahead. Woot. Ohio State isn't even playing today.

I have stuff to do, so I better get a move on.
