Comedy of Errors
Today has been one of those odd days where pretty much everything has gone wrong, but it was still an awesome day.
I met up with Kathy around 11 this morning. She was really struggling. Beckett refused to have his diaper changed. She was having difficulty finding something comfortable and cool to wear. I helped her out. Beckett was more agreeable to having his diaper changed once I was there. And I watched him while Kathy got dressed.
Then we had to get the car seat in my car. I struggled with that, because I had no idea what I was doing. It took me an hour to figure it out. I was having a hard time finding the anchors for securing the car seat and getting the seat hooked on.
And then I broke out in hives. We figured out later that it was the car seat that caused it. Their cat had been crawling all over it, and my allergy to cats gave me contact dermatitis. Fortunately, I had cortisone cream in my purse, so I slathered that on my arms and called it good. The hives eventually subsided.
We had a great lunch, but Beckett got restless in his high chair and didn't want Kathy to hold him. He wanted to be in my lap. But he leaked through his diaper.
So we had to go back to my house so I could change, and so Beck could be changed. But he refused to be changed again and tried to run through my house naked. Meanwhile, Lance was trying to restrain a very excited Reece. But we finally got Beckett's diaper on him and got him strapped into his car seat, and we were off.
Down to Sumner. Had a good time there. Went out for ice cream. Got another breakout of hives when I took Beck out of his car seat. Had our ice cream and headed home.
Still a great day, despite all the mishaps. I'm tired because it was hot, but I feel good. I just have some cleaning to do around the house, and I need to turn some stuff to my editor.
