Shopping

I forgot to mention that Lance and I went to Tukwila on Sunday to do some shopping. He had to return something at Best Buy, and he likes the one in Federal Way better, but I talked him into going to Tukwila because I wanted to go to World Market to spend our gift card. World Market is in the same strip mall as Best Buy.

I have been to two World Markets in this area: one in Tacoma and the one in Tukwila. I have to say that the Tukwila store kind of makes me uncomfortable. The layout is different from other World Markets that I've been in and it seems very cluttered. Lance agrees with me on this. But Tacoma is a hike. And I still love World Market, even if I find this one particularly difficult to navigate.

I had a vague idea how I wanted to spend the gift card, after looking at their website first. Unfortunately, I didn't find any of the items that I potentially wanted to buy. And Lance looked really bored and uncomfortable...shopping there just isn't his thing, but hey, I went to Best Buy with him and that's not one of my favorite places.

Eventually, we ended up buying mostly food items. But I did get a nice suede photo box to store all the loose photos we have thrown into a drawer. That was only $10. They had spices on sale, so I picked up some cinnamon. I got some seasoned pretzels (to take to Bunco on Friday night), and Lance got a huge Aero Bar and a clearance priced tin of fudge.

After that, we still had a few dollars left on the gift card. So I guess I'll use that up next time I go there.

While we were there, Lance pointed out to me some dupioni silk curtains that he thought would look nice over the sliding glass door. I was surprised and impressed. They were beautiful curtains. But we also have another window in that room, a smaller, more narrow window, and the curtains should match. And I can't sew. And the dupioni curtains are much too long and full for that smaller window. Still, sometimes Lance amazes me. He never cares about how things look...he just cares whether or not they're useful. And I've been trying to tell him for the past 5 years now that things can and should be both beautiful and functional.

Anyway, after dealing with the ridiculously huge crowds at the shopping center, we headed home, but not before first stopping at Cold Stone Creamery to pick up some dessert to take home and put in the freezer. I got the cheesecake creation that they have on the board, but I don't think I'll be getting that again. The blueberries get rock hard in the ice cream.

Today - more domestic duties. I have to wash linens. I have to find a coin-op laundry that has a big enough washer to wash our comforter, which has been crumpled on the guest room floor since we got here. I've had this comforter for a year and a half and haven't been able to wash it yet because it's oversized. I've Febrezed the heck out of it to try and keep it from getting too gross. Today I need to find a place to wash it. But because this is kind of a pain in the ass, I'll end up replacing it altogether. For now, we sleep with a top sheet and two blankets on our bed, but one of those blankets is unraveling really quickly because I think Lance has owned it a lot longer than I've ever been in his life.

And while I'm out, I need to get a bathroom rug for the guest bath and a few other odds and ends.

Tomorrow - I've an interview at the temp agency. Hopefully I can have some sort of employment by next week, while I'm waiting for a response from 3 jobs I've applied for recently, all of which are quite appealing to me for a variety of reasons.
