Rainy Saturday
It's one of those days that is chilly and damp. When one wants to dress in thick sweaters and comfy yoga pants and wrap up in a blanket and stay indoors.
But alas, I had a dental appointment this morning. I walked out of there absolutely irate. I need to find another dentist, pronto.
First of all, I had to fill out more paperwork than I think we had to fill out for our mortgage. Secondly, I waited probably half an hour or so before I was even called back. The examination "rooms," if you want to call them that, didn't have doorways...they were only enclosed by 3 walls, so anyone walking down the hallway could see you lying there getting your teeth cleaned or filled or whatever. I'm sorry...I know it's only my mouth, but I still want some privacy.
They took about 16 x-rays, which is the most I've ever had at any dental appointment in my life. And my gag reflex caused me to almost throw up a number of times when the x-ray tech stuck those horrid things in my mouth.
After that ordeal was over, I sat and waited...sat and waited. Waited. Waited.
Finally, the dentist came in. His accent was so thick I could barely understand a word he was saying. He spent about 5 minutes looking at my teeth, insisted that some never-existing filling/sealant/whatever came off of 2-3 various teeth, and that my fissures on said teeth were such that I would need 4-5 fillings to repair them.
Let's see...I have only TWO fillings. They still exist. Had I gotten any sealants or fillings elsewhere, I think I would've known about that...hmmmm. I insisted that I only ever had the 2 fillings that are currently in my mouth...never any sealants. I was told that they were probably done when I was a kid, and I just didn't know about them. How wouldn't I know? If I was old enough to have my adult teeth, I would be old enough to remember that.
I call bullshit. After the dentist left, his assistant asked me some questions, and then asked me if I wanted braces. WTF? Do I NEED braces?
And I didn't even get my teeth cleaned which was kind of the point of going in there today. They scheduled an appointment for that, and then said we would need to schedule two separate appointments for all the fillings. They gave me an itemized list of the work I need done, as well as an estimate of what they think my insurance will cover. Naturally, I would have to pay for some out of pocket. Naturally, it is for these fillings that they insist I need.
So...I'm going to a different dentist. And I will have them call this office and request the x-rays I had done today. I kept copies of my dental records that I brought back with me from Germany. Thank God I insisted they only make copies for their records.

I came home after that, watched the rest of the Ohio State vs. Troy State game (we won...but honestly, Troy State?). Then Lance went off to the hardware stores for some guy shopping. I had some girl shopping to do.
So I went to Southcenter, where I stopped at World Market. I picked up a gift for Andrea's birthday that I love so very much that I almost want to keep it for myself. I got a couple bottles of wine and a bottle of Belgian Lambic beer - peach flavored...I like it. I got scone mix (making scones for the breakfast potluck on Monday morning) and a couple of boxes of organic soups (butternut squash and french onion) to keep at work for my lunches. I picked up a couple of birthday cards.
I was going to go to Sears, but really didn't feel like hitting the mall. Traffic was already beastly, and I wasn't even near the mall yet. So I went to Kohl's instead. Bought a couple sweaters and a couple pairs of pants to wear to work. Stopped a Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte (it was underwhelming) and headed home.
And NOW...I'm going to curl up for the rest of the night. It's gross outside.
