Headache

Just came back from the dentist (who happens to be a Paychex client, as the receptionist exuberantly told me when they looked at the forms I filled out and saw where I worked).

I got my cleaning. Oh, and I need SEVEN fillings.

Yeah. That's 2 more than the last dentist told me I needed. Although I believe they covered most of the same teeth.

Seems I have some tiny cavities as well as a few spots where the gums have worn away enough to where I'm in danger of having roots exposed. This is due to my teeth grinding.

So it was recommended that I get a mouth guard to wear at night. Not the first time I've been told this. The dentist said to get one at Walgreen's and then if that wasn't comfortable, come back for a custom fit one.

Looks like I have a fair amount of work to have done. But at least my teeth are now clean.

Afterwards, I headed to Safeway, since it was in the same strip mall. Picked up the items I said I would bring for tomorrow's potluck. Couldn't find pumpkin bread, but they had pumpkin loaf cake. Close enough. Two bags of pre-washed veggies for the veggie tray. All I have to do is make the dip. Since it was way past dinner, I picked up a hot turkey and havarti panini.

I didn't finish the errands I had planned. Guess they'll have to wait until tomorrow evening. Just too tired.

ugh, fillings are no fun. I'm sorry to hear you need so many, but at least you can be confident you actually NEED them since you got a 2nd opinion!

It just boggles my mind why the military clinic at GK never mentioned that I needed these. Maybe I didn't need some of them at that time, but I'm sure I might have needed a few. Surely I didn't just have the need for 7 fillings come up within a year, especially since I've only ever needed 2 fillings so far in my entire life. And I haven't been caring for my teeth any differently than I always have.

They talked about how I needed jaw surgery to correct my TMJ. Never mentioned fillings.

I'm deeply suspicious of military doctors/dentists. The GK clinic was so overworked I'm not sure they did a very good job. I don't remember even getting xrays while we were there!

I always liked the GK dental clinic...thought I got really good care there. And their x-ray machine was so much better than the torture I've had to endure at the civilian dentists lately.

Now, the medical clinic...don't get me started...
