I ordered a few things from Avon. I have never really ordered anything from them before. Normally, if I can't pick up something I need at a drug store or Target, I won't bother.

But my skin's in bad shape. I've tried a lot of different stuff from Target or Walgreens or whatever. I'm desperate.

So I ordered a facial cleanser from Avon. I hope it will help improve my skin. I still get bad breakouts, and I'm at the age now where I have to start worrying about wrinkles. I need something that can address both those issues. The Olay I'm currently using isn't cutting it. Neither is Neutrogena.

In addition to the facial cleanser, I picked up a hand cream and a foot cream, both of which were on sale, and I needed those items anyway.

Order total: $33.70 (including tax and shipping). I paid via Paypal.

So tell me why Paypal is telling me that Avon is going to deduct $39.10 out of my checking account?

You better believe I emailed their customer service. This is ridiculous.

I would imagine it is because Avon, in turn, passes their Paypal fees onto the customer? I had a gal PP me her candle money, and her total was $145.22. PP took $4.10 off of the amount they sent me, and it was due to the fee. I'm sure Avon just makes certain that *they* don't lose the fee on *their* end.

I'm thinking you're right, but they should at least include the surcharge in the totals. I didn't see anything that said they charged an extra fee for using Paypal, otherwise, I would've used a credit card.

This makes me not so inclined to order from them again.

And btw that is against Paypal's TOS, so if they ARE passing the fees on to you, you should alert Paypal to that anyway.

hm. well, I said that, but now I'm not so sure. i know with credit cards, you can't charge the customer the fee, but maybe I'm just confusing paypal with credit cards. so, i might be wrong about that...

4.6 No Surcharges. You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as a payment method. You may charge a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge and is not higher than the handling fee you charge for non-PayPal transactions.

Avon informed me that the charge from Paypal was only pending (which it was) and that the actual charge wouldn't be that much. They wanted to allow extra for local taxes and stuff. So it looks like the charge will be what they originally said.

I've had pretty good luck with both Clinique & Mary Kay products for skin care. You can buy clinique on base and I don't feel it's that much more expensive - it usually lasts me a long time. Anyhow, just my two cents in case the Avon stuff doesn't work out for you. Hopefully it does!

I wonder if Philosophy will work for you.. it's the best cleanser I've tried yet, and my skin is ridiculously sensitive. Would you like me to send you some samples? I've got loads.

Got your message on Facebook. :) I've just packaged them up, and I'll have them out by tomorrow at the latest. If you're curious, this is the cleanser I'm sending you, as well as a few other Philosophy samples (a bodywash, some moisturizers, etc).

There is an Avon store at the mall here. Check and see if you have one in your area.

I have the neighborhood Avon lady who keeps leaving catalogs on my porch. :)

I am looking forward to reading what you think about the Avon products. I am having similar problems with my skin and was thinking about trying Avon.
