A day of quiet for Mr. and Mrs. Sniffles

Lance and I have spent several hours today just sitting next to each other reading. There were no words exchanged between us...just the passing back and forth of the box of Kleenex (we both have colds).

It was nice.

And today has been the hottest day of the year so far here in Deutschland (90 degrees), so we've been doing what we can to stay cool, which is, basically, to do nothing at all.

I LOVE that. Compatibility for me includes the love of books, and reading together in comfortable silence for afternoons at a time.

I'm currently between books, and I don't want to start a new one until my HP gets here on Friday. As much as I look forward to it, I'm quite embarassed to admit that. :X

I wouldn't say exactly that Lance has a love for the written word. He does read occasionally, but not often, and when he does, it's books about investing or real estate. Stuff I would find deadly boring. But he finds the stuff I read to be pretty boring. The only book we've both read lately is Marley and Me, and he only read that after I insisted. He liked it, though.

I would say that a great love of books is certainly important in a person in order for me to feel compatible with them, but for some reason, it was never an issue with Lance. I just accepted him for who he is. I do cherish the times when we do read together, which is happening more often. Perhaps I am rubbing off on him. :)

You shouldn't be embarrassed to admit that you're excited about HP. I think I'm the only one in the known universe who doesn't give a toss about Harry Potter. I guess I'm the one who should be embarrassed.

Heh - Jon reads Cisco Networking books. He can't read any fiction - it just doesn't interest him.

I know I shouldn't be embarassed about the new Harry Potter book, but I tend to glamourize myself as this anti-trend-hipster-mom. My HP fixation totally blows it for me. :D

Hey, you like what you like...it's not your fault that you just happen to like something that has taken over the universe. ;)
