Empty

On my way to bed (on the air mattress)...it's been a long day. The movers showed up at 8:15 and were gone by noon...leaving us alone in an empty house. I vacuumed up all the dust that had accumulated under the furniture for the past 2 years and cleaned up the bits of tape and cardboard left behind by the movers.

We have no chairs to sit on.

No bed.

My back aches horribly from all the standing I've been doing since yesterday.

All we basically have is a laptop and some dishes. When we had dinner this evening (leftover tacos), I spread an old blanket over the living room floor. The blanket is being discarded anyway. So it's like we're having a picnic in our living room.

We're packed for our trip tomorrow. Amsterdam tomorrow night. Then Seattle on Sunday by way of Houston and Dallas...22 hours of travel time. Really not looking forward to it.

Jetlag be damned...we start bright and early on Monday morning.

I can't believe you guys will be back in the states so soon! I hope you guys make it here smoothly. :)

Me too. 22 hours is a very long time to travel. But it'll be worth it, if we have a house at the end. ;)

Sorry about your furniture situation. At least you get to sit on the airplane. Hope you have a easy flight with your layovers. I don't like the Dallas/Ft.Worth airport. But as long as you don't have to come and go from the terminal, it should be OK. I've never been to Sea-Tac so I can comment on that one. I also hope you don't let our nasty weather give you a bad first impression.

We are spending 4 hours in Dallas. At least that gives us time for a sit-down dinner. Lance checked, and it seems there is a TGI Friday's in every terminal. Hehe.

I'm excited for you though!

I'll be excited too...once I get over being tired.

I can't wait to come and visit you in Seattle. Going to the farmers market together, cook delicious food, drag each other from bookstore to bookstore, enjoy Seattle coffe, have dinner at Impromptu Wine Bar Cafe (it's a gluten free restaurant) and and and...

So when can I come ;)

Have a safe trip!

You're welcome to come anytime as soon as we set up house. ;)

Good luck, my friend. I hope you have an uneventful trip that leads you to the home of your dreams!

[identity profile] prosodic.livejournal.com 2007-10-20 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, dear. I'm not sure about the home of our dreams, but at least someplace we can see ourselves living contentedly for the next several years.

WOW ... in just like that (for us in LJ-land) you'll poof be gone from Germany and into your new life back in the States!!! West coast to be specific! Have a safe voyage! And do try to have some fun out of it though I'm sure it will be so stressful. Aren't you glad there are no pets or babies to have to lug with you???

[identity profile] mrs-picasso.livejournal.com 2007-10-20 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you have arrived safely!

Welcome home.

why didn't you stay in a hotel or in the lodging at GK?! No reason for you to sleep on an air mattress! It should have been covered, right?

[identity profile] prosodic.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they'll only cover us when we actually move out of the house...am I wrong about this? I am pretty sure that's what Lance told me.

We have one more night on air mattresses before we get our loaner furniture from Schinnen. We'll be back in town on Tuesday.
