Know What's Fun?

Making a Target wishlist full of stuff we want/need for the house!

Kitchenaid mixer
Ice cream maker attachment for said mixer
Patio furniture
CD storage

Etc. etc. I'm still looking.

ETA: OMG...Home Depot has one too! Made of win!

If only I could figure out towels, bath mats, kitchen mats, shower curtains, etc. They have a great world traveler theme bath set, but it doesn't quite go in our hallway bath with the pink tiled countertop. I mean, the bath set is ivory and white, but it doesn't go with the pink and seafoam green geometric linoleum floor and the pink tiles (things we intend to change eventually).

And what is with the roosters? So much kitchen stuff with a rooster theme! We already have a rooster wallpaper border in the kitchen, and that is the first thing that will go! Our stuff isn't scheduled to arrive until December 21 and we close on the 14th, so we have a week to tear down wallpaper and paint before our stuff arrives. Unless our stuff arrives a bit earlier.

I want to paint the kitchen a light green color, but Lance thinks green is a weird color for the kitchen. He prefers all the walls to stay white. Boring, I say! Although I am willing to compromise and leave some of the rooms white. I was thinking about repainting the guest bath with white paint anyway. There is very little I can do with pink tile countertops. I was thinking of doing burgundy accents, because that's the color scheme used by the previous resident, so I already have some idea how it will look, but I'm not sure I like it with the floors.

Oh...and apropos of nothing...

But HEY BUCKEYES! HAHA! You're kicking some Badger ass! Once again, we rock!

Woot! Game over! 38 to 17!

you can re-glaze tiles - I've seen it done on a lot of house-flipping shows. Also, something that has been advertised here a lot, don't knw if they'll have it on the west coast, is BathFitter, where they basically just place things over your existing ugly bathroom and only take a day. I think the website is bathfitter.com or something like that.

Also, have you thought about a beige-y color for the kitchen and then using accent pieces for color? In IN, I had a nice color called like Rice Paper or something that was really nice.

My plan for the kitchen was to paint it a light green color up to where the wallpaper ends on the wall now (to the top of the kitchen cabinets). The rest of the wall going up to the vaulted ceilings would be white or beige (the kitchen countertops are bright white tile, but it seems Lance hates them as much as I do and wants to replace the countertop postehaste...we're looking at either corian or granite).

My boyfriend is from Wisconsin, and so are two of the managers I work with so this is a big one for me. I am SO freaking happy right now. It is an amazing day for Barb.

O-H-I-O!

Hehehe...the best part is rubbing it in people's faces. God knows we've choked enough that we've had to endure plenty of taunting. Now we can enjoy dishing it out.

I agree, and you would think I'd have plenty of oppurtunity. But. My boyfriend has been in Ohio long enough that he likes the Buckeyes and he was kind of cheering for both sides. One manager knew it would be a good game and wouldn't pick a side. And the other won't answer my texts!!

I'm still jazzed about the win.

I know you probably don't know about this store yet but a very popular department store in the northwest is http://www.fredmeyers.com/homepage/index.htm
I don't do much grocery shopping there as I find cheaper prices at Winco but their clearance and sale prices can be good. All sorts of stuff at Freddies. One stop shopping. Check it out!!

Stopped in Fred Meyers last week, although we only went to compare grocery prices with what we currently pay at the commissary. Ouch!

Prices were much better til Krogers bought them out. That's why I don't grocery shop there.

We're probably going to shop at the McChord commissary twice a month because it's considerably cheaper than any of the stores we've seen around the house. I hadn't planned on shopping on base at all, but McChord is so completely different from what I'm used to. Their base exchange and commissary are huge and have everything.

Try Winco. There is one in Kent. I can find things there 1/2 the price of the regular stores. Most if not 99% of my shopping is done there.

Our agent's assistant told us to shop there, saying that it was the cheapest, but I really didn't realize that it was that much less expensive than Top, Fred Meyer or Safeway.

My kitchen is dark green and it's FABULOUS. Boys know nothing.

Hehehe...I love green. If you use the correct shade, it's a neutral every bit as much as taupe, white, or gray. And that was what I had planned to do.

I played with one of those "Redecorate a Room" things on Better Homes & Gardens website. I showed him what a green kitchen would look like (a kitchen laid out similarly to ours). He seemed to not mind it very much.

He should trust me. I'm not going to paint it chartreuse.
