(no subject)

Today is one of those rare Seattle winter days when it's around 50 degrees and sunny most of the day, so that if you spend enough time outside being active, you can actually start to work up a sweat.

It's been lovely. And I have the pink cheeks to show for all my exercise.

I took a walk around the neighborhood this morning for about 25 minutes or so. But apparently, that wasn't enough, because I texted Farlis and she invited me out on another walk. She brought her dog. We went to the local golf course where they have a 13 mile long nature trail. Lots of walkers, joggers and cyclists were out today.

I'm not sure how far we walked, but we walked for about an hour...maybe a bit more than that. It was well past noon and I was feeling hungry, not having had lunch yet, so we got to a certain point on the trail and then turned around.

Once we got back to her car, she took me back to where I parked my car (we met at Kent Station)...I told her to drop me off in front of Panera. So she did, and I went in to get a quick bite...a multigrain bagel with sundried tomato cream cheese and lemonade to drink. Once I finished the bagel, I grabbed my lemonade and walked out to my car, stopped by the car wash, and then headed home.

So I just got back...and I'm trying to decide how to spend my afternoon. I would love to read, but I don't want to start a new book, seeing as how I am expecting a shipment of books hopefully today. So I wish the mail would get here.

Anyway, it was nice to spend a day away from the computer...away from the job listings...away from my worries and cares. It was just for a little while, but it was a very good thing.

And now I know a good place for Lance and I to ride our bikes, take the dog (when we get her), or just spend a day out enjoying some fresh air and sunshine. I could've walked all afternoon, but I would've had to bring food. And I didn't, since it was so last minute.

I must've missed any dog related posts. What are you getting? Do you know when? I heart dogs.

We've been planning to get a dog for years, and I mention it every now and then, but we won't actually have a dog until late spring/early summer probably. Lance wants a black lab.

Check the shelters first. Large black dogs are the least adoptable because they don't catch the eye as much as other dogs.

I've only ever gotten shelter dogs. Lance is used to getting dogs from breeders. So I urged him to look at a Lab Rescue first before we get one. If we can get a puppy through Lab Rescue, it would ease my conscience and Lance can still get the purebred he wants.

Just stay away from pet stores. I'm sure you know how bad they are, but I always feel compelled to warn people.

I would never get a dog at a pet store anyway. I never have. I don't even feel comfortable getting one from a breeder. I'm for pound puppies all the way. So...no need to preach to the choir. ;)
