After doing some research last night, I really have very few options on how to get my car fixed up. Maaco is the only body shop here in town that is open on Saturdays and open late enough on weeknights where I can actually get something accomplished. But I don't want to go there, because from what I understand, things can be really hit or miss with them. Besides, my car is a unique paint color and I'm worried about matching. And my auto dealership is 40 miles away, so not exactly convenient.
All the other body shops in town are pretty much only open during the hours that I work. And while I had my little accident in the parking lot at work and my supervisor knows about it (I came in from lunch yesterday in tears because I was so shaken up and angry at myself), I really don't want to ask for time off to take care of this. If it had been a bigger accident, sure. But I need minor body work and paint.
Also, I think the damage is minor enough that it's better for me to pay out of pocket and not have my insurance company deal with it. Lance already said that he's not dealing with the fallout from this, and if I do decide to go through the insurance, he'll add the raise in our insurance premium to what I already pay for the bills.
Fair enough. After all, he had nothing to do with this.
But he leaves tomorrow for California, so I'm probably not in any position to deal with this in the coming week. It will have to wait until he gets back.
Moving on...
Lance painted the ceiling in the living room and entryway last night and needs to do another coat this morning. We have the kitchen/den area blocked off, which is where Munchy and I are staying. Lance has the La-Z-Boy blocking off the entryway from the kitchen, and he has a coffee table and loveseat blocking access to the living room from the den. We both are getting pretty restless.
Of course, we have to walk through this area to get to our bedroom, so we put Munchy on a leash whenever she had to go out overnight. That way we could keep her from getting into all the painting equipment. She is pretty good about this, and seems mildly curious as to what Lance is doing. She doesn't seem to be overwhelmed by paint fumes or anything.
Ruby is coming over for my birthday. She emailed me yesterday. I think she's going to bring over a movie - I picked Juno - and we're getting takeout. Not the most ideal birthday I've ever had (hell, after my 29th birthday in Paris and my 30th in Prague, they could hardly be better), but it's better than being alone. I am working that day and my schedule is pretty full, so I'll be busy.

Have you inquired if your dealership does body/paint work? Since your car is an unusual color, I'd at least call them and ask for a reference to someone they recommend - since it's a new car and still under warranty for other stuff, I'm sure they'd be helpful. There might even be a company close to your work - and if they don't have a loaner car, they probably would provide a ride to your office.
Good luck, I know it is SUCH a pain to get car stuff taken care of.

There is a Mazda dealership in Renton, but since I didn't buy my car there, I'm not sure how helpful they would be in terms of doing any extras like providing a loaner car or giving me a ride to work.
