Yeah...so we went to IHOP for dinner. I got their Hawaiian chicken stir fry, which seems healthy. After all, it's chicken breast meat, a ton of veggies and a ginger soy sauce served over white rice. But the calories...ugh. 910 for the whole plate! The saturated fat was low though. Sodium...yeah, it was the hypertension special.

But I ate about half and boxed up the other half to have for lunch tomorrow.

And Lance had his bacon and eggs, so he's happy.

I've been mostly following a low GI diet today, just to see how I feel. Breakfast was a mixture of strawberries and blueberries with yogurt and granola. Lunch was deli turkey slices, hummus on whole grain crackers, and cheddar cheese. And then dinner was this stir fry thing. I don't think it was too bad, overall. I haven't been particularly peckish between meals today, as I usually am.

I'm going to consult the low GI shopping list in this book I'm reading and use that as a guide for grocery shopping this weekend.

Lance and I stopped at Top on the way back from dinner. I picked up some bananas. He wanted to check out Nature's Market too, which is an organic foods store (lots of gluten free stuff too)...spendy, which is what I expected, but they had a lot of really good stuff there. It was certainly a food porn kind of place. Lance wants to check out Trader Joe's, so maybe we'll go there on Saturday.

Trader Joes is AMAZING - good wines too. And very reasonably priced. I miss them SO MUCH!

I was very impressed the only time I shopped there. I'm kind of excited to go back!

910 cals?? That's insane!!

I know, right? Just for chicken and veggies and rice...it has to be the sauce.

It's definitely the sauce. Chicken and Veggies are typically low in cals and usually good for you.

TRADER JOES! Organics that aren't expensive. I used to get their refried black beans and their different hummus, their organic tortilla chips. Their soups! Oh I miss them!

I only went there once, but I fell in love. It's just far enough away so that it's not convenient to go there.

Fred Meyers has a fairly large selection of organic stuff & it's a little bit cheaper than Nature's Market...my mom ONLY buys organic when she comes to visit.

Lance just wanted to go in to see what they had...we walked out empty-handed. Just too expensive. But it prompted him to want to go to Trader Joe's.
