Aug. 20th, 2009 07:32 pmYeah...so we went to IHOP for dinner. I got their Hawaiian chicken stir fry, which seems healthy. After all, it's chicken breast meat, a ton of veggies and a ginger soy sauce served over white rice. But the calories...ugh. 910 for the whole plate! The saturated fat was low though. Sodium...yeah, it was the hypertension special.
But I ate about half and boxed up the other half to have for lunch tomorrow.
And Lance had his bacon and eggs, so he's happy.
I've been mostly following a low GI diet today, just to see how I feel. Breakfast was a mixture of strawberries and blueberries with yogurt and granola. Lunch was deli turkey slices, hummus on whole grain crackers, and cheddar cheese. And then dinner was this stir fry thing. I don't think it was too bad, overall. I haven't been particularly peckish between meals today, as I usually am.
I'm going to consult the low GI shopping list in this book I'm reading and use that as a guide for grocery shopping this weekend.
Lance and I stopped at Top on the way back from dinner. I picked up some bananas. He wanted to check out Nature's Market too, which is an organic foods store (lots of gluten free stuff too)...spendy, which is what I expected, but they had a lot of really good stuff there. It was certainly a food porn kind of place. Lance wants to check out Trader Joe's, so maybe we'll go there on Saturday.
