I got out of the house today! Oh, that felt so good.

I got it in my head, for some reason, that I should make some homemade book plates for my books. I can never find ones I really like at the bookstores, and I've been just writing my name inside my books. I want something a little nicer than that.

So I went out to JoAnn and bought some paper crafting supplies. I already have some card stock. But I also have some blank cards and such that could be used. While I was out, I was on the lookout for other pretty papers I could use.

I plan to do this for gifts as well. Just starting out simple for now. I already paid $30 or so just for three inkpads, mini alphabet stamps, and a corner punch.

Who knows...maybe I could open an Etsy shop eventually. If I keep up with this and get good at it. I've been looking for a creative outlet. Besides writing, I mean.

After stopping at the craft store, I went to Staples and bought a nice binder, decorative dividers, and sheet protectors so I can start organizing my home and garden ideas book. I also got some double-sided tape...again, for the book plates (don't want to glue them inside the book if I think I might want to give the book away or sell it at some point).

I stopped at Target to get some Pepsi for Lance and then went to the grocery store to pick up some chinese takeout for lunch.

My fortune cookie:
"Your hidden creative talents will soon be revealed."

Looking through my bookshelves, I see so many books that reflect my lost potential or the lack of follow-through for my ideas.

A beginning calligraphy book - never used.
Freelance writing books and novel writing books - read, but never followed through on any of those ideas.
Gardening books - glanced through, never implemented any tips/suggestions/ideas.
Decorating books - same.
French language/grammar - hoping I would regain some amount of fluency...never did.

Of course, I use cookbooks a lot, but I'm getting rid of one or two that I have never used.

I can't part with any of these books though, for the most part. It disappoints me to look at them - mostly because I am just disappointed in myself - but I hope, someday, I will actually use these books.

I love cookbooks and some of mine I have never used. Sometimes when I look at a long list of ingedients, I get dismayed. I really like good food with simple recipes. Maybe if I wasn't working, I could spend all my time in the kitchen.
