And now for a sap-free post...
Oct. 18th, 2008 06:56 amLance was browsing the website for the restaurant where we plan to eat tonight.
"Twenty-one dollars for a cheese plate?!?! Are you serious??"
Yes, dear...serious.
"Twenty-five dollar corkage fee? What's that?"
I told him.
He was incredulous.
It doesn't make any difference...I would order the restaurant's wine anyway.
I mean, it is our FIVE year anniversary. A bit of a milestone, right? And we are not going with our original plan to spend the weekend in Victoria. And we're not exchanging gifts (you could argue that the new windows and new dishwasher are gifts we bought for ourselves already). So a nice dinner, albeit a little on the spendy side, is perfectly fine and appropriate, methinks.
I'm already thinking about that pork chop with apple-sage stuffing and a balsamic vinegar reduction. But I'll probably stick with salmon.

I was wiped out last night. So much so, that I fell asleep on the couch at 9:30. Lance woke me up somewhere around 10-10:30 to urge me to go to bed. I told him that I was perfectly comfortable on the couch, and I wanted to be with him. He said we should just watch TV in the bedroom, since Reece and I were both already sleeping anyway.
So that's what we did. Reece jumped up on the bed and snuggled between us, and we didn't bother trying to get her into her own bed. We all fell asleep like that...crowded together on our queen size bed, which is clearly too small for two adults and a largish dog.
Lance got up at some point in the night, to take Reece outside, I thought. But he heard a car alarm go off, and got up to investigate. I was only conscious of him getting up. Oddly enough, I didn't even hear the car alarm. Apparently while he was up, he discovered that the glass globe that covered our hallway light just spontaneously broke apart and fell on the floor. Very very strange. But I wanted to replace that ugly thing anyway.
Anyway, it's only past 7 and all three of us are up now. Reece woke up and realized I wasn't in the bedroom and scratched at the door, which woke up Lance. So he let her out here into the living room with me and got up himself.
In a few hours, she'll be off to Rich and Kathy's house for an all day playdate with them. Lance and I will be hitting the road to Snoqualmie, stopping at places of interest along the way. I have fresh batteries in the camera, and we just need to gas up my car (prices have dropped 35 cents just since I filled up last week) and we can be on our way.
It's supposed to be a really nice day today. I hope so. Yesterday turned from nice to nasty, but if we can have an entire day of weather like what we had yesterday around lunchtime, when it was sunny and pleasant, I would be happy.
Oh, and if Ohio State could beat the snot out of Michigan State today, that would make me happy too.
