I keep using my snow icon, but that's because there's SNOW! Lots of it! Reece woofed at it this morning when she first saw it out the window. We have total ground cover now...probably about 2 inches. And the roads are bad, so probably no venturing out at all today, although Lance wants to get to Home Depot to get some ice melt for the driveway. He just can't take the truck because it'll slide around too much. My car has front-wheel drive, so he can take that if he wants. It's not like Home Depot is that far from here, but in this weather, it might as well be 500 miles away. Seattle just isn't prepared for this kind of weather.

And it's coooooooold. And windy.

At some point today, I should go around and take pictures of our Christmas decorations and stuff.

We closed on the house one year ago today. It's funny, because when I look at those pictures from when we first moved in, I'm a bit taken aback by the wallpaper that we had in the kitchen/den. I'm now so used to the walls being painted that I sometimes almost forget the hideous wallpaper that used to be there. We still have a lot of that paint though, and the room needs touching up, especially around the new windows, where some of the paint got scraped off. And I want to paint the inside of the pantry and redo the layout. The shelves in there now do not work for me at all.

Lance has a lot of time off over Christmas, so he wants to start working on the master bathroom. I really hate the wallpaper in there, and even if it were remotely attractive, it was very poorly applied. So he plans to strip that and get the walls painted during his break. I want to do the entire master suite in a soothing pale blue, if I can find the type of color I have in mind. I want it to be slightly metallic...silvery, but I think it'll be hard to find something like that without doing a special wall treatment.

Today though, to celebrate our small anniversary (and let's ignore the fact that our house has dropped $20K in value in the year that we've had it), I'm making some cocktail meatballs and weenies, and we're going to have crackers and cheese (I got some really good smoked Gouda with bacon at the store yesterday) and olives stuffed with feta and dry roasted peanuts. I don't think Rich and Kathy will be coming over at this point to share this little celebration with us...the roads are just too bad. But Lance and I will enjoy it just the same.

Apropos of nothing, but last night was a big night for me on Facebook. A friend from my very early days in Germany (she left in the summer/fall of 2004) friended me last night. I was surprised and pleased. And that led me to search for some other people, and I found a lot of friends from my grad school days, so I'm back in touch with them again.
