2:15 AM: I let Reece out and OMG snow! The snow they have been forecasting for days...the snow that hit EVERYWHERE but Seattle...buckets of it. Buckets and buckets and buckets.
5:45 AM: Woke up. No longer snowing.
7:15 AM: Left for work. Couldn't make a right hand turn out of our subdivision. My car kept getting stuck. I kept putting it in reverse and trying to make that right hand turn at a different angle each time. Total fail. Decided to attempt a left hand turn instead, which I managed to do with difficulty. Had to get on 277th, which has a steep downhill slope, in order to get on the freeway. Once I got on the freeway, it wasn't bad.
7:40 AM: Arrived at work. Texted Lance to let him know I got there safely. Went up to the office to make my tea/put my lunch in the fridge/get started on my day. Secret Santa delivered my gift quite literally when my back was turned to my cubicle (I was talking to my supervisor). Today's gift: caramel cider mix.
9:00 AM: Looked out the window. HOLY FREAKING CRAP. ZOMG SNOWPOCALYPSE ARRIVED!!!
It NEVER stopped snowing.
Lance was told to stay home from work. In fact, most of the city of Seattle was told to stay home from work.
2:00 PM: Found out that the courier service we use to deliver payrolls was unable to deliver to 160 of our clients. This resulted in us having to call these clients to explain the situation. Thankfully, most of them were understanding, since weather prevented them from being at work anyway. Several of them called before we even knew about the situation. Several clients called because they were leaving their offices and couldn't wait for the payroll delivery and wanted to know what to do. Essentially, we spent the entire day fielding calls about payroll delivery.
4:30 PM: I was allowed to leave.
5:30 PM: I finally arrived in my neighborhood. One hour of driving on treacherous, icy roads. A car spun out in front of me. I think it was the most terrifying hour of my life. To make it worse, a weird light came on on my dashboard and my car beeped at me. Had to pull over to look in my car manual, only to find out it was my low tire pressure light. As if I didn't already have to be extra cautious driving home.
I stopped at Target and got home shortly after 6.
I'm not sure I'll be able to go into work tomorrow. And according to the forecast, we'll be getting more of the same on Sunday, which will make Monday's commute very interesting.
I am happy to be alive and in one piece.
Oh...and because I had a traumatic day and came home with nerves completely frazzled, I opened up the gift that arrived in the mail today, courtesy of
hetterrific. She sent me two very cute froggie Christmas ornaments! Thanks so much, Heather.
