Apr. 14th, 2009 09:35 pmI've never ordered flowers from AAFES before, so I hope I did the right thing. Lisa's funeral plans have been confirmed, so I went ahead and ordered her funeral flowers this evening. I haven't received any money from anyone yet, although at least half a dozen people have assured me that they're sending checks. I have confirmed $75 already, but some people who are sending money haven't told me how much they're sending yet. So I'm guessing I'll end up with over $100.
I hope I'm right. This is what I ordered at a 15% discount, no sales tax or delivery charges:

I got the deluxe arrangement.
I already told the group that if I get more money than what I spent, I'll donate the rest to Hopeline, which is the suicide hotline.
This is proving to be a more difficult undertaking than I envisioned. I had hoped that some people would be on Paypal, which would make these transactions easier, but nobody is. So I have to wait for checks to arrive in the mail.
But I felt compelled to do *something*...you know? Situations like this leave people feeling helpless. I just hope I don't have to do anything like this ever again.
I'm just nervous about the flowers. The funeral is in South Carolina, so I'll have no way of confirming that they were ever delivered or anything.
