Jun. 10th, 2009 08:16 amLance is now on his flight from Denver to Seattle. He had a delay in Denver, but it wasn't long and they said they would make up the time in-flight so he'll still arrive here at his scheduled time.
I have a lot to do today...mostly household chores. Dusting, vacuuming. I need to trim the rose bushes because they've gotten ridiculously tall. And there are beautiful blooms on them right now, so I might as well make myself a bouquet while I'm at it. I need to sweep the patio and clean off the patio furniture.
I should also stop by the grocery store and pick up some lemonade. Just in case we have any teetotalers at the barbecue tomorrow night. As for myself, I shall be wining with my dining. It is my birthday, after all.
Didn't sleep well last night. Had a lot on my mind. And Reece woke me up this morning and wouldn't let me go back to sleep. Once she's determined to get out of bed, she won't allow her humans to stay in bed.
So...an explanation, followed by a question:
There was a bad accident yesterday on I-5. A 20 year old man slammed his car into a minivan, which included 7 kids and 2 adults (one of whom was pregnant). Nobody in the minivan was wearing a seatbelt, including very young children. A 2 year old was life-flighted to a local hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
Yes, the accident was not the fault of the minivan driver, but THERE WERE KIDS WITHOUT SEATBELTS OR CAR SEATS. One of these kids is fighting for his life. Shouldn't the adults in the minivan be charged anyway? The news stations reported that the authorities don't think charges will be filed. This really pisses me off. I think because the only reason why I'm sitting here typing this right now is because I wore a seatbelt. I can't believe people would neglect something so simple that could save lives.
