Friday Wrap-Up
Sep. 18th, 2009 08:44 pmToday has been pretty darn cool.
Aside from feeling the excitement of officially being a college student again (you all are going to get SO SICK of me talking about my classes), I went into Staples today like a kid in a candy store. I didn't spend too much (between $25-$30), and I got everything I will probably need for at least the next several classes. Binder, spiral notebook, a cushion-grip pen, 3-hole punch, plastic dividers. Anything else I might need, I probably already have here. Lance and I have ridiculous quantities of highlighters and scratch paper and Post-Its.
My technical writing textbook came today! :D I'm still waiting for the document design book to arrive, but that should get here in plenty of time before that class starts in 2 weeks.
I've obviously been wrapped up in school stuff today. I did very little freelance work, but I did do some.
I also baked some blueberry muffins from scratch, from a reduced fat recipe I got off the Betty Crocker website. They're...ok. Not the greatest muffins I've ever made (and I make some damn good muffins. I can bake and bake and bake.), and I probably won't use that recipe again. But it satisfied a craving I had for blueberry muffins, at least. And I have half a dozen of them in the freezer for another time.
I had to take a nap this afternoon because Reece gets increasingly more restless and irritating at night with each night Lance is gone (so glad tonight is the last night) and ends up waking me up multiple times. And inevitably, in my half-asleep, half-awake state, I start thinking about things and then my brain is fully awake and I can't get back to sleep. So I got really tired around 3:30 or so. I dozed until 5 and Reece decided that we needed to be up. There is no ignoring her when she's that way. She'll sit next to my side of the bed and cry and growl until I get annoyed enough to get up.
And shortly after that, she threw up. She's good about indicating that she needs to go outside for this, and she tried...but I didn't get to the door in time. So now we have a fresh stain on the carpet...all the pet stain remover in the world won't get that out. It was pretty awful. I'm glad we're eventually ripping the carpet out in that room and putting down wood laminate. That was certainly the low point of an otherwise good day.
The weather was gorgeous. Reece and I had play time and walk time (and she's completely fine, by the way. Right after she got sick, she wanted to go out and play fetch and she was running and jumping around in the house). I think I might cap the night off with a movie - I think I need to watch Dirty Dancing in homage to the late, great Patrick Swayze. I wanted to do so earlier in the week, but didn't get the chance. But honestly, I'm more tempted to watch the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice. I'm in the mood for a fluffy costume romance. Hmmmm...Johnny Castle or Fitzwilliam Darcy...which one do I choose?
