Stupid Groupon Stuff ;)
Oct. 11th, 2010 02:04 pmYou know that rhyme we learned in history class:
"In fourteen hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue?"
Well, based on that, Groupon's website was asking people to contribute their own history rhymes. The winner gets $20 in Groupon credit. I don't even expect mine to win (it's not particularly funny, and they usually go for funny), but it's in the same spirit as the original:
"In 1773, Bostonians destroyed three shiploads of tea." (And the 1773 should be said as "seventeen hundred and seventy-three").
It's funny, because I couldn't remember the exact year of the Boston Tea Party, and the thought crossed my mind that three and tea rhymed, so my next thought was "I hope the Boston Tea Party happened in a year that ended in three." And sure enough!
So yeah...probably not prize-winning, but now I won't forget what year it happened, should I ever need to know that in the future. :)
