I just got up at 10:30 this morning...much longer than I intended to sleep, but I guess this is some crazy new jetlag to which I am unaccustomed that actually makes me sleep long and deeply instead of being restless in the middle of the night. It's fine. I feel functional during the day, which is more important.

Lance and I both had a Tarot reading last night at the Halloween party, although he is remaining mum about the results of his reading. My friend Teri does the readings, and knows what she's doing, having studied Tarot for a long time. She did one for me last year on Halloween and it was actually very accurate, and other people who had theirs done came back to her this year to tell her how true her reading was. These were my results last night:

5 of cups (representing my past): something has caused me a lot of emotional strife in either the recent past or the more distant past. (Of course, this is true of everyone.)

King of Pentacles (present): Someone in my life right now, who is secure in himself physically, as well as financially, is helping me deal with the strife in my past. (Lance, obviously...I called him my "King of Pentacles" several times last night after the reading...LOL.)

Seven of Wands (future): I will require some kind of intellectual/emotional break to gather my thoughts before I can have the someone in my present help me come to terms with the strife in my past.

Teri was a bit more specific as to naming certain people and events in my life that fit in with this reading, but I won't really get into that. I realize the reading is pretty vague and can apply to anyone, but actually having specific thoughts about all these things she said made some things click for me.

It was pretty cool.

Odd, but as we left for the party last night, we saw trick or treaters in our neighborhood. We have lived in Germany for 4+ years, and NEVER saw any organized trick or treat night. They must've started doing it this year. We only had them once a few years back, and it was a group of Canadian kids that lived behind us and were only going to the homes of other Canadians and Americans, and I just happened to have small bags of gummi bears to give away. We had nothing to give away this year, so I'm relieved that we weren't home.

Anyway, today is a holiday and Lance is off work. He's actually off tomorrow as well, since the commander decided that since everyone had Thursday off, why work on Friday? So we both have lots of things to do.

I put some Slow Cooker Orange Chicken in the crockpot, in an attempt to use up more stuff in the fridge and pantry (I posted the recipe for this back on Sept. 15). But I actually ran out of orange marmalade and used apricot jam instead. So it's more like Apricot Chicken. But should still be fine with the soy sauce, barbecue sauce, and ginger.

I need to scrub out the refrigerator. It's a horrible mess, and Schinnen won't take it back in the shape it's in right now. So that's on the agenda for either today or tomorrow.

I need to apply for jobs. I need to work out...oh yes, do I ever need to work out...all I have is the DVD player in my computer and my computer monitor so that I can use my exercise DVDs, but it gets the job done. I need to send an email to my client at sidestep and tell him that I can take on another assignment, but only a small one. The house is getting dusty again and is in need of vacuuming.

Anyway, it's going on noon and I could use a shower. The workout will have to wait for this evening, although I'll get out today and walk for my cardio. I have to change the way I exercise for now, since my hand weights are gone and all I have left is my exercise mat (which is being thrown away when we leave, because I really need a sticky mat for yoga instead of a regular exercise mat, which slides around everywhere.)

Right now, I have a headache. Lance and I are sleeping on one small mattress on a bed frame with no box spring...not the ideal of comfort. But it's better than sleeping on the floor.

I spent a good chunk of this afternoon cleaning out the refrigerator. That fridge hasn't been cleaned out since we've had it (it's not ours...it's borrowed from the Army base)...let me tell you...ewwwwwww. I will never neglect the fridge again. I can't imagine all the gross stuff that has accumulated there in the past 4 years. Sure, things spill in there. And I clean it up to the best of my ability when that happens. But I don't really get under the drawers and everything. I've never spent a considerable amount of time actually pondering the refrigerator and its cleanliness (or lack thereof). Boy, am I sorry now.

Anyway, I scrubbed it out really well, and I'm not sure it's possible to get it cleaner than it is right now.

I also went out today for a walk.

And that has been my day in a nutshell. Otherwise, I've spent my day taking care of moving-related business, although I still have to start applying for jobs. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what to get my mom and my best friend for their birthdays, which are November 11 & 12, respectively.

Dinner was really tasty. The Slow Cooker Orange Chicken is infinitely better, IMHO, with apricot jam instead of orange marmalade. I added a couple splashes of balsamic vinegar to the wild rice as it was cooking, and it improved the flavor (I also used chicken broth instead of water). Since Lance held back a few DVDs from the movers, we were able to watch M*A*S*H on my computer while we ate dinner. It was nice to finally have a home cooked meal again.

Anyway, I guess I better get to the business of applying for jobs, after I figure out what in the world to get my mother and Paula for their birthdays.
