I feel somewhat human again today. I could go to bed last night when I liked and wake up this morning when I liked (well sorta...I had one of those hideous leg cramps that sent me screaming from bed at 6:50 this morning...fortunately, Lance had already been up for awhile). It was nice not to have to go into work at some unholy hour of the morning.

Anyway, once the leg cramp subsided, I got into the kitchen to get the Mexican Beef Stew started in the slow cooker, since that has to cook for 9-11 hours. It's more of a variation of chili than it is beef stew. I had to trim the stew meat first though, and cut the chunks down to more manageable sizes. I don't know who the meat people are at the commissary, but they sure don't know how to prepare stew meat, since the chunks were huge and very very fatty. So anyway, that's cooking now and about half an hour before serving, I have to add in the black beans, mexicorn and taco seasoning.

Lance got his bonus check today. It's quite a little windfall, so that's certainly a good feeling. Even though I am getting a paycheck for at least the next 2 Fridays, money will continue to be a little tight until I actually have steady income coming in.

I need to work out this morning. I think my leg is feeling up to it now. I would take my workout outdoors and walk up and down the hills around my subdivision, but I am kind of glued to the phone today, since I find out today whether or not I am getting a job offer.

I have to call Farlis and see if she's up for having lunch today. That, of course, takes me away from the phone (unless they try to reach me by cell, but I'm not sure they have my cell number)...but they can leave a message if they call and I'll get back to them before the end of the day today.

The house also needs cleaning...but then again, when doesn't it? I should take the Swiffer duster for a trip around the house, and then clean the kitchen. I should also try to strip some wallpaper today too. It's imperative that this room get finished before Lance leaves next month for his training.

Awwww...

Just got a call from Guam.

Baby Eva is teething. Poor sweet little thing. I heard her fussing in the background while I talked to her mommy.

The phone kept cutting out, but we still had a good conversation. My brother is doing okay on his deployment.

I didn't know this, but because we are Eva's legal guardians, we are also responsible for her care if both of her parents deploy at the same time (Mommy is in the Marine Reserves). She wanted to let me know that, and she made arrangements with her mother to come to Guam and get Eva and drop her off to us if that should happen.

So if that happens, that will be our crash course in parenthood.
