The ceiling is finished...finally! We had to touch-up a few spots last night. The original ceiling color was beige, and we painted over it with bright white, so some of the beige spots were showing through just a bit. It was just hard to get it all covered. But looking at it in the natural light this morning, it looks good. We can finally take down all this plastic and I can have my kitchen back!

The only problem is that there is an opening in the wall above the kitchen cabinets, where the living room and kitchen ceilings meet. So now we have this nice white kitchen ceiling and the living room ceiling is still beige. So we'll have to paint the living room ceiling too in the coming months, but we needed to do that anyway. That ceiling is also very dingy and the paint on the walls is in horrible shape.

We're leaving the drop cloths down in the den because I'll start priming the walls either tomorrow or Friday. Then we'll probably paint this weekend. I hate doing this to Lance, but we want to get this room done before he leaves for training. I'll try to get most of it done myself so it will mean less work for him. I'll try to give him some leisure time over the weekend.

I just want to finish it so I can put everything where it's supposed to go, hang curtains, and put up the tapestry that we had hanging in our entryway in Germany. That room is the only logical place for it.

And I can finally cook a meal tonight, which is great. We've been living off leftovers and take out for days.

So today...

Today, I hope for good news. Even if that means finally getting my paycheck in the mail (it should've come yesterday, but wasn't in the mailbox). Of course, I am hoping for the phone to ring today...and that something good will happen job-wise.

I need to write a book review and a new reviewer bio. My old one is incredibly outdated. I'll get started on those things as soon as I get my 2nd cup of tea.

I'm going to start The Lodger Shakespeare today.

I need to dust and vacuum.

Farlis called me last night. She has a job interview today for a temp position. Whether she gets it or not, she has no plans to return to the temp job from hell. I expect to get called back next week. *IF* no other options present themselves (as I'm still on hold waiting about a temp opportunity at the company where I want to work), I feel like I should go back and work. But without Farlis, it's going to suck even more. And I feel that the working conditions are so completely unfair. I really should say something to the temp agency about that.

I talked to my brother on Yahoo Messenger this morning! He's well and relatively safe where he is right now. I think his biggest threat at the moment is being carried off by giant mosquitoes. And he has to take malaria pills everyday. But he seems to be in good spirits and it was wonderful to be in touch with him.

He also told me that Eva can now hold her own rattle. He's a very proud daddy! :)

Anyway, I just finished my first book review since September. I struggled with it a bit, but only because I had to shake out the cobwebs. It has been awhile, after all. But I'm satified with the review I submitted and I also wrote up a new bio so that I would have an updated profile on the reviewer page.

Now...off to take a shower and do some housework.

Lance discovered today that he likes Thai food.

This now opens up a lot of new dinner possibilities...

Also, I seem to have been bitten by some kind of cleaning and organizing bug. We have a lot of half empty boxes laying around, so I dumped the contents of some boxes into others and broke down the empty boxes and got them out in the garage. While the house is still very cluttered, there is at least a lot more carpet visible.

It's another gorgeous day today. Not rainy and chilly as the weather experts would have us believe. It's partly sunny, mid-50s. And unfortunately, I'm feeling poorly today, so I don't really feel like getting out and enjoying it.

I'm not coming down with anything, it's just...

Oh, hey...does anyone know how much it costs to rent movies at Hollywood Video?
