Tomorrow:

Taking the commuter rail into downtown Seattle.

From the station, it's nearly a 2 and a half mile straight shot (if we walk, that is) up to the Pacific Science Center/Space Needle.

Pike Place Market is right about in the middle.

So it's PERFECT. We can do the PSC/Space Needle first, stopping at Pike Place Market on the way back.

And brother and fam will at least see what makes up the pulse of the city. There is more to do, obviously, but we don't have enough time.

It will be an expensive day though. The PSC is $15 to get in and the Space Needle is about $16 (although I might be able to get a military discount...they have one listed in their prices). At least Pike Place Market is free (unless you buy something, of course).

Today:

I have brownies in the oven. Reece REALLY wants to play, and she chomped down hard on my thigh because I was eating breakfast and couldn't play with her. She tends to bite when she gets overly frustrated. But she'll get plenty of play time when they get here.

They left Burbank about 15 minutes ago or so, so they are now on their way. I still have quite a bit to do.

Marcus told me on the phone last night that he thinks he wants to go somewhere today and he mentioned wanting to visit Puget Sound, so I think we'll go to Dash Point this afternoon. And we can take the dog and see how she likes the beach.

Then, home...to burgers on the grill and brownies.

I stepped outside to clean the sliding glass door, and once I was out, the little wooden thing we use to keep the door closed fell into place.

Oh shit.

Luckily, I had windows open. I thought I would try to pop out a screen. Couldn't do it. I went around the front of the house to try and find a way to break in. Couldn't figure out how to do it without actually destroying a window screen. Besides, I didn't want anyone to think I was *actually* breaking into the house...what if they didn't know I lived here?

But my brother is on his way here right now, so I had to get inside.

I went back to the backyard, pulled a stake out of the garden, and wedged my arm through the small opening in the glass door, in an attempt to move the wooden thing out of the way. Didn't work.

Went back out front. Meanwhile, Reece is following me from front door to back...front door to back...completely uncomprehending of my situation. Not that she would be able to do anything about it anyway...she's a dog and she doesn't think that way.

Started to push in the screen on the front door, and it gave just enough for me to stick my hand through and unlock the screen door. Thank God the front door was open.

So now I'm back in. No window screens were harmed.

But honestly...could you imagine my brother showing up at my house (if he doesn't get lost on his way here) and finding me trying to break in? Sheesh.

I discovered Trader Joe's today. Believe it or not, I have never been in one before.

My SIL rectified that situation.

We picked up steak to grill for dinner tonight, and had a fabulous meal. Caesar salad, garlic fries, brownies with mint chocolate cookie ice cream. Emily got fruit beers for us to drink...neither of us are beer drinkers. The peach beer is awesome.

It's been a good day. The park was beautiful. Lots of people at the beach. We found a lot of sand dollars.

Reece kept picking up driftwood and seaweed. She loved the beach itself but was scared of the water.

Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun too! I'm just sorry that Lance is missing out.
