Those of you who have been reading my LJ for awhile are aware that I make this post every year.

It's October 9th. My best friend, Sherry Payne, died 19 years ago today (aged 14) because she needed a heart and lung transplant. She was such a warm, vibrant, positive force in my life. To see such a bright light snuffed out at FOURTEEN is heartbreaking. She barely had a chance to live.

This is a cause very close to my heart. As soon as I got my driver's license, I didn't hesitate for one second to become an organ donor.

I urge you, if you aren't already, to become an organ donor. Many people may have questions about the cost or burden to their families if they sign up...any questions can be answered here:

http://www.organdonor.gov/

Nineteen years later, the need still far outweighs the number of donations.

If you're already an organ donor, I would love for you to leave a comment.

I finally got my appetite back today! I've been eating mostly cereal and soup for a week now. And I've probably dropped a bunch of weight because of that...everything is loose.

Suddenly, before lunch today, I found myself ravenous. I actually had lunch plans with Teresa today, but she had to cancel due to some business that came up. So I found myself alone, with no packed lunch...got in my car but wasn't sure where I was going.

I thought about teriyaki, but that didn't really appeal to me. Mexican? Not today.

I thought about a Wendy's frosty. I wanted one so badly last Thursday when my throat hurt. Lance never got the chance to run out and get one for me.

And that got me thinking about a Jr. bacon cheeseburger.

So that was lunch today...Jr. bacon cheeseburger, fries, frosty. Yum! It really hit the spot. It was exactly what I wanted.

And I finished lunch by 12:30, so I had time to go down to 7-Eleven and fill up on the cheapest gas I've seen on our end of town. I still got back to work early enough to call my Mom and talk to her for about 10 minutes before I had to go back to work.

I made pizza for dinner tonight. Pillsbury pizza crust, canned pizza sauce, various cheeses and Italian seasoning. It didn't really taste all that great to me. I still don't think anything beats pizzeria pizza.

Tomorrow is a casual day at work - the last one for this month. Officially, anyway. I was told that we could have a "casual day" on Halloween if we came in costume. If we don't come in costume, it's business casual, as usual. Time to resurrect my sock hop costume.

We're also having a fall-themed lunch potluck in a couple weeks, so I need to figure out what I'm bringing for that. Pumpkin pie appeals to me. But I don't feel like baking a pie and I don't want to cheat and buy one. Maybe pumpkin bars? I need to figure this out so I can sign up for something.

It's really cold here today. I don't think it got much about 50 degrees, and we're having thunderstorms here and there (none here in Kent, unfortunately) and snow in the mountains.

My cousin Lisa gave birth to her 3rd child today - Piper Joy Stirratt. She joins big brother Jonah and big sister Marlee.

YAY! So exciting!
