I'm working my half day today + one extra hour. I need at least one hour off the phones each day to catch up on just normal client/payroll maintenance stuff that I can't seem to get done otherwise, due to the 497926098136365 interruptions I deal with during normal business hours.

I almost feel guilty for working a half day, knowing how much work I have yet to do. Knowing how behind I'm getting. But I'm in self preservation mode right now. Whatever I have to do to take care of me. And that means being away from the office. Besides, mandatory overtime is a week from tomorrow. That will give me the chance to get caught up.

So...I get off at noon today. Doctor's appointment at 2 so I can finally get this persistent cough/asthma nastiness examined. Which means a prescription. Which means a trip to Target, where I can pick up my SIL's birthday present while I'm waiting for them to give me my drugs. I already have something picked out for her.

Then home. Probably slip into my yoga pants, do a little light housekeeping, and just chill out. I have a DVD I borrowed from Kathy that I've been meaning to watch.

I stayed up later than usual for me last night, finishing Sarah's Key. Very good. Now it's just a matter of articulating my thoughts on it for the book review I have to write. I have another book enroute to me right now, some nonfiction about Queen Elizabeth and Leicester. Something else to feed my Tudors fixation.

I had hoped to get some restful sleep last night, but it wasn't meant to be. Lance slept in the guest room for most of the week. I told him that he needed to come back to our bed, so he did. But unless he's super quiet at night (a rare thing), that generally means I don't sleep well. I don't care so much today, since most of my hours at work will be off the phones (1 hour playing catch up, 2 hours in meeting/training and then my last 2 hours on the phone). I was sleeping pretty well around 4:30 though, when Reece decided to join us in bed. She now thinks it's the weekend because Lance was back in the room. So she decided to initiate our ritual weekend family cuddle time. And thus ended my night's rest.

That's ok. Coffee this morning. I haven't had any all week. And there is nothing to stop me from taking a nap this afternoon, if I please.

Lance came home today with a gift for me - a clock that looks like Reece. It has a wagging tail. And it's small enough for my cubicle at work. That was his intention. Because the clock is supposed to remind me of how much time I have until I can go home to be with her.

That was really sweet.

I had my doctor appointment. It seems that my chest congestion is breaking up. Today has been much better in terms of me being able to take a deep breath and not cough. He still prescribed some antibiotics to wipe out the rest of the congestion. And he refilled my inhaler prescription, although Target still has a record of my old one which has a refill or two left on it, apparently.

So after the doctor, I went to Target for my drugs. Bought my SIL's birthday present, which I desperately want for myself. May have to convince Lance to get me one for a Valentine's Day present.

Ran into [livejournal.com profile] inateapot while I was there. We chatted for awhile. Got caught up on things. She had her 4 month old daughter with her. She's a little cutie.

Don't plan to go anywhere for the rest of the day. I may just make like Reece and lay down for a nap. That sounds very refreshing right now. My only other goal for today is to vacuum. Oh, and make shepherd's pie for dinner.
