Today is Kathy's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHY!! (She reads my LJ sometimes.) And Lance and I will be meeting up later with her family for a late lunch and then go back to their house for cake. We're not going to Tacoma today as I thought we would. Kathy is still getting over a bad cold and wasn't up for it today. So we'll do that when the weather improves some.

Don't know where we're going for lunch yet. Kathy had to think about it. But it sounded like she was leaning toward Korean food. She instructed me to bring "an adventurous palate." That, I can do.

Lance and I lazed in bed with Reece for awhile this morning, although, as you can tell from the time stamp on this post, we didn't exactly sleep in. We're generally early risers since we're used to getting up early on weekdays. I think Reece woke us up around 6:45 or so because she wanted to jump into bed with us and we didn't really get back to sleep after that.

She finally decided to get up, so I had to get up too, otherwise, she would've been wandering all over the bedroom, getting into things. So I started with my Sunday morning ritual, which is to make myself a cup of chai in my Cocoa-Latte maker. But then inspiration struck.

I wasn't really in the mood for a milky tea this morning. So instead, I poured 3/4 cup of water into the machine, 1/4 cup apple juice, one heaping teaspoon instant tea, a packet of instant apple cider mix, a teaspoon of brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon and ginger. Turned on the machine and let it mix all that up and heat it. And now I have a delicious spiced apple tea. That's exactly what I was in the mood for this morning.

Looking at this sample wall color in the morning light now. Still not right. And I have about a cup of this paint left over. Any ideas what I should do with it? I'm trying to imagine painting furniture with it, but it's too neutral and bland for that.

I'm still stuffed from our late lunch. But it was soooooooooooooooo good.

Kathy decided on The Keg for lunch. We tried to go to the one in Kent, but it's now closed. So we went to the one in Renton.

They gave Lance and I a free shrimp cocktail since we were new to The Keg. Lance doesn't eat shrimp, so Kathy, Rich and I ate it. We ordered 2 appetizers to share: garlic cheese bread and the crab and spinach dip. Both of them were outstanding. Lance and I both ordered the same entree - a 7 oz. filet mignon wrapped in applewood smoked bacon with a bleu cheese crust.

Ohmigodohmigodohmigod.

And the twice baked potato?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It was all so incredibly good. Had I had any room for the dessert at all (and Kathy had cake waiting at their place anyway), I would've had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I freaking LOVE sticky toffee pudding.

It was a good day. A wonderful meal with friends. And Kathy had a great day, which made me happy. I brought her a bouquet of flowers (white tulips and red baby carnations), some chocolate covered espresso beans and a card that was just too perfect to describe our friendship.

Now we're winding down. I'll have to get in the shower here soon. I just have some things I need to take care of first.
