for 4 1/2 day weekends! Because after I leave work at noon today, I don't go back until Wednesday! Woohoo!

Although it's not going to be a particularly restful weekend. But honestly, I don't mind painting once we get to the actual painting part. It's all the stupid prep work that I hate.

Last night was a bad night for sleep. Reece got me up 3 times, once was just to go out and howl at the moon or whatever, so that I had to run out in my bare feet in the cold and drag her inside before she woke up the neighbors. She even woke up Lance, and that man can sleep through an air raid.

So I guess it's going to be a latte kind of day.

Reece is a great dog, but sometimes she can be such a bully and a brat.

We just got back from Reber Ranch, where I let her run around on the doggie playground for a bit. She was fine, for the most part, except she kept jumping on people, which I think annoyed me more than it annoyed them. Dog lovers/owners are mostly ok with stuff like that, but Lance and I have strongly discouraged her from doing it, and still can't seem to break her of the habit.

There were 2 lab puppies there. Reece kept bullying them. She jumped over one of them and sent it sprawling. The other one, she grabbed by the scruff of the neck, and kept growling. She is actually just playing, and she can be a bit aggressive sometimes, but I kept calling her to me and she refused to listen.

Finally, she jumped on someone, who held her for me until I could come and leash her. Then I called it done. People seemed mostly amused by her antics. She got a lot of smiles and pets and attention. People asked me a lot of questions about her (and again, it was mentioned that she could have Whippet/Greyhound in her lineage). But I didn't feel comfortable with her bratty behavior and I can't encourage it.

We walked into Reber Ranch afterwards, where I picked up some people and doggie treats - a bully stick for Reece and 2 large homemade caramels for Lance and myself.

It is a nice day today. I think Lance is going to try to come home early. We have some paint prep work to do and we still need to go out and get some supplies.

Is Lowe's the source for our perfect paint?

Stay tuned.

Another color up on the wall - Olympic's "Drifting Dune."

The color sample actually matched the color card. That was good. They also had a light box with 3 types of light so you could check out the color and it stayed a true brown.

It looked pale purple going up, but now that it's trying, it's turning more brownish. We shall see, I guess.

Fingers crossed.

(By the way, chopsticks make awesome stir sticks for these small paint samples. Popsicles would work too.)

Does anyone else have this much trouble finding a paint color?

*scream*

This one isn't working either. Yes, I checked. It still more or less matches the color card. And while I think it pretty much looks like what I was expecting, Lance sees a purple tinge to it. And I can kind of see his point. It does look that way if the light shines on it a certain way or depending upon how thick a layer is slopped on the walls.

I think it's the walls that are the problem. Textured walls can create a difference in color.

This is insane. I guess I'm sticking with antique white. A very subtle tan/brown just does not exist in our world, apparently (we're not going with anything dark...Lance has this fear of medium/dark colors on the walls). All the colors we thought were right were either gold, pale pink or purple-brown in disguise.

So...the prep work has begun, and yet, no paint.

$12 spent on paint samples. Three small cans of paint going to waste. Not even sure where I can discard this. It's considered a hazardous material, so I can't just throw them in the trash.

I'm really getting pissed off. My mom can just go buy a color, slop it on the wall, and it looks fabulous. She doesn't even try out any samples first. I suck.
