Yesterday, Amazon.com wasn't offering their free Super Saver Shipping. Today they are. So I took advantage and ordered a couple of things from amazon.com, using that gift card I won from ruba.com yesterday.

So I have the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice coming (I also own the BBC version...I like them both). And I have the double CD of Elton John's Greatest Hits 1970-2002. And that was barely over $25.00, plus tax. So I only had to pay $2.90 out of pocket. Not too bad.

So that takes 2 things of my wishlist. I'll save the rest for Paula, who requested a link to my wishlist so she could order my birthday present.

Today is significantly cooler than yesterday. Back to what is pretty much normal for Seattle for this time of year. I'm a bit concerned about next Thursday and the planned barbecue for my birthday (what Lance calls "The Karyn National Holiday," even though I hardly think a barbecue with 3 of our friends constitutes as a huge blowout celebration...it's rather low-key, I think). What if it rains? I suppose we can still do the cooking outdoors, but not so much with the eating. Lance checked the forecast though, so we should be ok. About 71 degrees and dry. But then again, it's hard to know 6 days in advance.

I need to head out to Target today and pick up a small present for young Master Beckett, who turns 2 tomorrow. For I am invited to his birthday party.

Reece and I have been out to the park for our daily game of fetch. Otherwise, today has been mind-numbingly boring. More of the same: perusing freelance job boards, applying for jobs, etc. etc. I need to start writing some articles. I can post some up at Associated Content for some quick cash. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

So I found an ad for Reber Ranch in the Kent Reporter today. I threw the newspaper in the recycle bin after I read it, but I kept the Reber Ranch flier, because there was a coupon for a free dog toy. I put the flier on the kitchen counter.

Stepped out to Target for about half an hour for birthday party shopping (Beck is getting a bag of pool toys to play with in the jacuzzi, and he's also getting a Mr. Potato Head). Came home, and Reece greeted me at the door, with a pile of shredded Reber Ranch ad on the floor behind her.

Well, so much for her free toy. After I cleaned up the mess (and she continued to make a mess as I was cleaning it up because she absconded with a large piece of the ad and started shredding that to bits), I had to call Lance to tell him about it. He laughed.

I suppose it was funny. No harm done. But no toy for you, you little snot.

Lance asked what I wanted for my birthday. I told him that all I wanted was a day with him in downtown Seattle, enjoying Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. So that's what we're doing on the 13th. I'm just trying to figure out the best place to park. Lisa is supposed to be meeting us for lunch, but I'm wondering if it just wouldn't be easier to park outside her apartment building in Cap Hill and take the bus from there. It would certainly be cheaper.
