- We have a real estate agent. We received an email from him this morning, with a link to his website and a login id and password. When we logged in, there were already 3 houses saved - all of them at the amount for which we were approved. Not that I'm surprised. But that's really not what we had in mind. But one of them...oh my God...adorable! Adorable, sweet, sunny yellow house. But we just can't afford it. Lance wanted me to check that site out more and see if our picks from theMLSOnline.com are on it. Still need to do that. But our agent works through Coldwell Banker, so I'm guessing no. We'll probably find a few of our picks, but not all of them.

By the way, what is up with so many of these houses only having one bathroom? And a good number of them may have only a one car garage, but ample RV parking. Nice...if we owned an RV. (This does, however, bode well for us owning a boat in the future, if we can afford one later on. Lance wants one very badly, and we could find a house with the space for it).

- We had to fix our flights for our trip back to the States in a few weeks. When we thought we were going to OKC, we were flying from Amsterdam to Houston to Dallas, and then renting a car (flying into Dallas was at least $200 cheaper per person than flying into OKC). Now we added on a flight from Dallas to Seattle. Long flight. Two layovers. Not looking forward to it, but we couldn't exactly afford to scrap our transatlantic flights and start over from scratch. Going back, it's Seattle - Dallas - London Gatwick - Amsterdam. Lance still has to arrange a rental car at Sea-Tac and we have to arrange billeting at McChord AFB.

- This means we have all of one week to actually find a house. This also means that I will probably have no time to set up job interviews while I'm there. Although Lance wants to at least check out his new workplace, since it's near the airport.

- Just got back from both NATO bases. Returned library books and got more: Mrs. Shakespeare: The Complete Works by Robert Nye, and The Last English King by Julian Rathbone. Have heard of neither of them before, but was intrigued enough to check them out.

Yes, I realize this makes me a geek. So be it.

At GK: checked on inhaler prescription (no more refills...damn), ordered prescription renewal, filled Gertie up with gas, stopped at NATEX for foodstuffs. Lance and I got gifts for our niece, who is very nearly done incubating. But I didn't want to leave the parents-to-be out, so I got them two ginormous Milka chocolate bars. I believe I sent Milka chocolate to Scott a couple years ago when he was deployed down at Gitmo, and he really liked it and proclaimed it superior to all American chocolate. I suspect it will melt a bit though, since it's being sent to Guam.

- Today's agenda: finish vacuuming house. Finish laundry. Find at least one more job to apply for.

I looked at job sites for hours on end yesterday, and it's mostly the same stuff over and over. And I don't seem to be a match with most of the jobs I'm seeing. I was applying for a job at Amazon and when I hit the submit button, I got an error. This happened 3 times. So they either got my resume 3 times or not at all. *sigh*

I'm looking for something along the lines of: writer, editor (or any variations/combinations of these), Publications Coordinator, and even Public Relations/Marketing (entry level, obviously). Something preferably NOT in Seattle proper, as I could not possibly deal with a nightmare commute twice a day and manage to stay sane. It would help if I could look into the future and know where we'll end up living, so I can try to find a job nearby.

Is there a huge rush for you to find a job right away? It would be a lot easier to wait until you've moved before you start applying for stuff.

Given the high cost of living there...yeah, even if I have to pick up a job in retail in the interim until I get a more professional job. We will need the income fairly quickly. We have a little wiggle room, but we also don't know what major expenses we'll have to deal with immediately after we buy the house.
