I started out this morning in a very healthy fashion...got my flu shot (a lot of good it did me last year, since I got the Burmese Death Plague back in January) and then headed over to spinning class, where I pushed myself extra hard.

I still have a nice, healthy glow on my cheeks, but that could be either the workout or the shower I just had.

Good start to my day, although my left arm is a bit sore now. But hopefully this is insurance against the flu for this season. We shall see.

Anyway, yesterday was very difficult for me. Thanksgiving is the one day of the year that I get the most homesick (unless I happen to be in Ohio, like we were 2 years ago). Lance was sweet and found a parade for me to watch online...it wasn't the Macy's parade, but it was a big one in Philadelphia that they broadcast on ABC...I think? Ah yes, it was Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He knows how my family always had the Macy's parade on every year, even though we didn't really watch it...we just listened to it as we were playing or cooking or doing whatever.

Around 4, I called my Grandma's house. My cousin Jason and his family had just arrived, having driven all night from South Carolina. Lori and Lindsey were there, and I got to talk to them. Lindsey was telling me how much she thinks about their trip here earlier this year and that she gets homesick for Germany. I talked to my parents, of course, and my aunt Sue and Grandma. My little cousin Zach, who is 2 years old, said hi to me, and then proceeded to try and cut off my mother's head with the giant plastic scissors that Grandma keeps in the toy cabinet.

*sigh* God, I miss THAT Thanksgiving. The silliness. The fun we all have together. We're one great big silly, fun-loving family who loves the hell out of each other and always has the best time together.

I should stop, because I'm getting teary.

I talked to them for an hour and then Lance called home. While he was chatting with his mom and sister, I went into the kitchen and reheated the meatballs and L'il Smokies and finished off the rest of the mashed potato flakes, making them with some chicken broth and good German herb butter to give it better flavor. We ate while watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I had a couple glasses of wine. I got a bit sleepy after dinner, but I finished off Little Altars Everywhere - fantastic book - and then decided to call it a night. I think I was in bed around 9:30...just bored and sleepy and kind of depressed, so there was no sense in staying up.

Anyway, I know the shopping madness starts today back in the States. I've never cared for Black Friday and I've done everything I could to avoid it. Now I kind of wish we were home. We need stuff for the house, and today is the day to get good deals.
