It's the end of day 2 for the kitchen and the wallpaper is almost completely removed, and Lance primed and did the first coat of paint on the area behind the refrigerator (because the fridge arrives tomorrow, so it was important to get this part done first...we'll be going very early in the morning to do the final coat.

The wallpaper you still see in the photos was the pattern for the kitchen as well. We only removed it in the kitchen, but it will come down in the other room eventually. We just wanted to tackle it one section at a time.

Beginning of day 2: Before bottom layer of wallpaper and paste is removed

the refrigerator area is ready for spackling and painting

The area around the pantry is clean and ready to prime.

At the end of day 2: Primer and first layer of paint in the refrigerator area.

Clean walls - ready to prime and paint...prepped for tomorrow's painting (blinds come down in the morning)

Small section of wall behind and to the right of stove still need wallpaper removal

The paint color, by the way, is called Sagey, and it's made by Behr. It's a medium green color, but it's wet here, so it looks darker than it will be when it's dry. Lance is not sure he likes it. He wanted the paint to be really light because he's afraid that darker paint will take away from the copious amounts of natural light in the room, but I don't think this color will detract from that at all. I adore this color and I can envision what the whole thing will look like when it's finished, along with our dining table that is still in layaway.

I'm proud of myself, because I was the one who went to Home Depot by myself and got all the painting supplies today.

Also, we realized the the pantry shelves are not nailed in. So at some point, I will paint inside the pantry, and I plan to do it in a contrasting color from the kitchen walls.

I really like the color; very similar to what I had in my bedroom in IN.

I also like the contrast between your modern glass-top stove and your giant 80's style microwave! ;) :)

I love your kitchen, especially the asymmetrical look and the fact that the kitchen sink faces the other living area.
Tomorrow, your Christmas goodie box is going to be mailed. Be careful unpacking it please!!

Looking good! Do you plan on getting new kitchen cabinets too eventually? That'll be the first thing I do when I finally own my own house: Buy a NICE kitchen LOL I'm so tired of having to put up with crappy 1960's kitchen furniture!

HAHA...I hate the microwave. It's under warranty for a year, so we hope it breaks so we can get a new one! The dishwasher is really dated too.

Cabinets aren't a priority, but we plan to redo the counter and the floor eventually. If we get to it, I might reface the cabinets, but they're still in very good shape.
