After 6 weeks of lots of eating out, not having access to a gym, and getting through Christmas, I figured I would have to start this January 1st like the last one: back on my weight loss program. Only it would be to a smaller scale, because it's not like I gained back all the weight I lost.

Stepped on the scale this morning - only a pound and a half over my ideal weight.

Hmmmm. Weird. But I'll take it!

Lance and I stayed up to watch New Year's at the Needle last night, which was the celebration in downtown Seattle. I'm glad we weren't there. They had 2 major malfunctions with the fireworks. Twice during the show, the computer operating the fireworks had a meltdown, and they had to reboot. It was hilarious. The news reporters who were doing the show were at a loss about what to do, so they had to improvise while the fireworks technicians were trying to fix things. Lance and I were laughing so hard. And we're glad we didn't go downtown, since we passed through there anyway yesterday and were encouraged to go.

The show got going again, but the music that was supposed to sync up with the fireworks had kept running, so the music ended and the fireworks went off without it.

ETA: LOL! The thread about this on [livejournal.com profile] seattle is comedy gold!

HAHAHA. And I bet the computer ran on Windows too (someone in the community also suggested this). All the rich people were partying inside the Space Needle, so I suggested to Lance that perhaps Bill Gates was there, and they could get him to save the fireworks.

Anyway, I think the fireworks in our neighborhood were more spectacular than those. They certainly went on longer.

I have no incentive to go downtown for New Year's in the future. And the broadcast itself was pretty lame. They had 5 couples line up - the women thought it was for a game - and after the first two men proposed to their girlfriends, the other three women knew what was up. Predictably, all five women said yes.

Anyway, today is a new day, whether it's a new year or not, and we still have another coat of paint to put up and some touch-up work to even get the kitchen looking decent. So Lance and I will be doing that today. I'm not sure about any other plans.
