So we have this oversized queen comforter...it doesn't fit in a regular washing machine. Of course, I knew this when I ordered it, but silly me...I didn't think it would be that big a deal to take it to the laundromat every once in awhile (and this was before I discovered that we had no access to industrial-sized washing machines in Germany).

So I did that today. I washed this comforter for the first time ever since we had it.

First of all...OMG. Laundromat was a total dump. I felt completely uncomfortable the minute I walked in, and the attendant kept hounding me, wanting to know if I needed help. USING A WASHING MACHINE IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! I think I can grasp it, thanks.

Also, there was some shady looking guy hanging around in there for no apparent reason, and he kept looking at my car (he did not appear to have laundry).

Secondly...$4 to use the washer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I only had $5 in change. Luckily, the dryer was a quarter for 10 minutes, and I got the comforter mostly dry in half an hour.

But the comforter is now clean. I think I'll be getting a new one soon, though...preferably one that I can wash here at home.

The last laundromat I went to, the big big washer was $7 to use. That's been @ 4-5 years ago, when we lived in Great Lakes. And by comparison, it cost $60 to get my dry-clean-only bedspread cleaned. :/ I put it up and won't use it anymore. It cost me more to clean it than it did to buy it! Ugh.

My current blanket complaint: it's a cat hair magnet. I don't know what it is about that particular style of cotton, but ugh. I'm going to have to quit using it, too.

I'm so picky about bedding.. it takes me forever to find a set I like, as I'm not really fond of prints - I'm a solid colors kind of girl. :/

I was able to stuff our old king comforter in our regular 7kg washer but I'm not sure I will be able to do the same with the new one which is a little thicker. It looks like Vogelweh has a Laundromat (or Laundrette or whatever it's called), I was hoping that they have the bigger washing machines.
