Is it because it's a sunny spring-like day, or because it's Valentine's Day that all the stupid drivers are out in full force? Or do we have a full moon tonight?

I was out NOT EVEN AN HOUR running errands, and encountered acts of supreme stupid on a scale I have never seen.

There was the guy who backed out of his parking space and ALMOST INTO THE SIDE OF MY CAR in the Top parking lot. I was stopped because the car in front of me stopped, presumably waiting on a car to pull out of a space, even though there was an empty space right next to that car (the people were still putting groceries in the car, so it's not like he was just being nice and stopping to allow them to leave).

I backed up just in time...the last thing I need right now is to have my car get smashed by some idiot in a beater pick-up truck. I'm just lucky there was nobody behind me.

So I went into the grocery store and that went without incident. One heart-shaped cheesecake for 2 - check. Tillamook yogurt - check (and on sale...ka-ching!). Milk - check.

Then I had to go across the street to Papa Murphy's. The parking lot was packed for some odd reason (huge V-Day Buffet special at Old Country Buffet?), but two idiots were double-parked. But someone was pulling out of a space next to one of the double-parked cars, so I waited for them and pulled into their space.

I wasn't inside there for 5 minutes...not even close. And I came out to see some little old lady standing behind my car and her husband wedging their Subaru between my car and the double-parked car. WTF? He was 3 INCHES from my car...3 INCHES! From the driver's side! How in the hell am I supposed to get in my car?

And of course, they saw me opening up the passenger side door of my car, but trudged onward toward Old Country Buffet, completely uncaring that they left me no space whatsoever.

So I had to gently place the pizza and the cheesy bread in the passenger seat (the other food stuffs were on the floor on the passenger side) and very gently and deftly crawl over the passenger side into the driver's side without damaging any of the food.

It's a damn good thing I am flexible and able-bodied.

And I examined my car when I got home...no damage. Good thing he let his wife out before he wedged himself into the space, but thanks a lot, you thoughtless bastard!

Anyway, it looks like Lance is getting tomorrow off work, so that means a 4 day weekend, and if there are any more errands to be done in the next few days (with the exception of my doctor appointment tomorrow), he can drive. I've exceeded my stupid quota for the week. And it seems my poor, beautiful little car is a magnet for idiots.

I'm so paranoid about people hitting my new car too-- I don't trust the drivers around these parts.

My back driver's side door already has two small scratches in it...probably from where people smacked it with their car door or something. I need to get some touch-up paint.
