I have Terro ant baits.

I know I said I didn't want poison, but this poison is at least contained. I just had a problem spraying any around the inside of the house. And even the outdoors, to some extent, because I'm really trying my best to go more green these days.

Anyway, the ants are swarming them, and I hopefully nipped this problem in the bud. These are the most ants I've seen since I started noticing them, but they seem to be running from underneath the dishwasher directly into the bait, and then back under the dishwasher again. And that's okay with me, as long as they're not running all over the floor.

Hopefully they are taking the poison back and killing all their friends.

After I run out of Terro, I'm going to try mixing peppermint oil and water, since ants apparently have an aversion to peppermint. I just need to find peppermint oil first. I would've looked for it today, but it could've taken ages, and time is of the essence here. I'm trying to stop this problem before it gets out of hand.

Let me know if any of the things you try work, we need ideas. We're starting to get ants around our house, too. :( Are yours mainly around the kitchen? Our major problem is the bathroom for some reason. They're starting to show up in the kitchen, too. *shudder* It gives me the creeps.

could you try peppermint extract instead of oil? that should be relatively easy to find in any grocery store baking aisle.

Our ants are hanging out around the dishwasher. They are trying to break into the pantry, as far as I can tell, but haven't infiltrated it yet. They are distracted by the Terro for now. They are having quite a party with it.

I don't know if it's as strong as peppermint oil. But peppermint oil shouldn't really be all that hard to find anyway.

GNC might have it. I just don't know where the nearest GNC is, but I think there's one on base, so I'll pop in there when I do my shopping this weekend.
