Just called the folks at my new job.

My background check hasn't been completed yet. It's slow for two reasons: 1> Easter weekend, and 2> my 4 years in Germany.

So...my new start date is April 7th.

They're supposed to call me sometime next week to keep me posted on how things are going.

They're frustrated. I'm frustrated. But nobody can control how long this takes.

So...one more week without pay. I kind of wish now that I had taken the temp job that was offered to me this week. But, you know, I had a pretty full agenda this week that included getting clothing for my new job. How was I to know that I would have all next week to do that?

Eeeek! I hope it gets done soon & the start date doesn't get pushed back any further. I can see how it would be so frustrating. :(

Well, I suppose it's my fault for moving to Germany in the first place.

I knew it would really affect my ability to have a career, but I never even considered this part of things.

I still wouldn't trade the experience for anything though.
