Saturday Madness

I really wish my shopping trip today had not coincided with payday weekend. Holy hell. And I don't get how people can block the entire aisle with their cart and then give you a dirty look because you politely say "excuse me" so you can get your cart past them to continue on with your shopping. So sorry to inconvenience you!

GAH!! I like the commissary less and less. It's not so bad when Lance is with me, but I really hate going there by myself.

Anyway, on the way there, I almost ran over a mother duck and her little babies, who were trying to cross the valley freeway. I managed to avoid hitting them, as did the person in the car behind me, but I nearly cried just thinking about how they were probably not going to make it. Traffic was pretty heavy and people are driving 60+ miles an hour. It boggles the mind why they were trying to cross the freeway anyway...and where were they trying to go?

Now that I'm home, I would like to mow the lawn. But the second I pulled the lawnmower out of the garage, it started to sprinkle. Such rotten luck. It's supposed to rain all weekend and probably the first part of the week. So the earliest I might be able to mow the lawn is Wednesday after I get off work.

In other news, I wish I would get off this recent addiction to jellybeans. I made a grave mistake buying that bag of Jolly Rancher jellybeans a couple of weeks ago. I had to go to Target after Easter and buy a couple more bags on clearance, and I have only managed to open one so far. And I haven't eaten it all yet. And I bought a bag of Starburst jellybeans today. I'm trying to save some for when Lance gets home.

Whenever that will be. It's now just a little less than 2 weeks, unless the date changes again. And I have the feeling the days will crawl by, even though I have a job to go to now.

I'm always trying to go the day before payday when everybody is still broke. But if it's payday on a Friday I'd rater vote for take out than face the Commissary.

Our commissary is always crazy anyway because there is a really high percentage of retirees living here that make liberal use of the base facilities. I am always having to weave the cart between motorized scooters and those who are being held up by their shopping carts and take half an hour to get one from end of the aisle to the other.

Today was commissary = playground day. So I was trying not to run over all the little kids with my cart. There was a lot of screaming and crying. And it wasn't just the little kids. ;)

Actually, for me, it was more swearing under my breath.

There should be an Old Folks Day at the Commissary so they can all do their shopping at 0.1 mph without slowing down anybody else. On another day they should install rubber walls so all these over-sugared kids from hell can come and bounce off the walls. And then there should be Adults Only Day when we come in with our structured lists that cut the shopping time to 20 minutes if we don't have to plow through half a kindergarten class or get caught in a traffic jam between two scooters. And all the cashiers would be male strippers!

Spud and I always deal with the jelly bean addiction right around Easter. Thank god we don't have any more left in the house! We ate mostly Jolly Rancher brand this year, only because the yummy Smuckers brand was nowhere to be found.

They seem to be coming out with better tasting ones in recent years. I like the Jolly Rancher ones, but I am eating from a bag of Brachs Fruit Stand right now and I like those too, especially the lemon flavored.

I try to tell myself that they have vitamins in them, so they're okay. :)
