I leave for Rochester at 7:30 AM on Sunday morning, and I'm getting sick.
I had it coming. I've avoided getting sick this entire time since we've lived here, with the exception of one Saturday about 5 weeks ago when I had a sore throat. And that went away in a day after a lot of rest, tea, chicken & dumpling soup, and Ricola lozenges.
I felt fine this morning. My supervisor took me out to lunch (Thai food, if you're curious...although, because I'm a wimp, I ordered something non-spicy). When we got back to work, I noticed my throat was really scratchy and I started sneezing like mad. And it's gotten progressively worse all afternoon.
Stopped by the store on the way home and bought Airborne gummis, because the tablets you dissolve in water are vile, disgusting things. The gummis are somewhat tolerable (although ask me again after I've had to suck on the licorice flavored ones).
The last thing I need is to develop a full blown illness while I'm in Rochester.
Anyway, as I left work today, there were hugs and cellphone numbers exchanged...lots of encouragement and well wishes. I feel good about the trip. It's the first day back that terrifies me.
