HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ONE AND ONLY!!!! :D

Munchy didn't want him to sleep in, but thankfully Lance is a sound sleeper. So she woke me up instead and I got up with her at 5:30. I let her out. She seemed too amped up to go back to sleep, so I brought my pillow and a throw out on the couch and laid down. Soon, I was asleep and I have no idea what she was doing while I was sleeping, but she was quiet.

A little while later, she jumped up on me. Then she went to my feet and jumped up on the couch and curled up around my feet. We slept like this for a couple hours. Then she gradually started wiggling her way up toward my head. We cuddled and I petted her for awhile until Lance got up on his own.

So I had him open up his birthday cards. He talked to his mom and to mine. Then we were dressed, got Munchy in the crate, and headed off to IHOP for his favorite breakfast (cheese blintzes with strawberry jam and sour cream). I had the pancake combo, and I was starving, so I ate it all. It was soooooo good. But I'm still stuffed, so I definitely don't need lunch.

We stopped at Lowe's and then went to McChord. Lance had to return something at the base exchange. We stopped at the commissary to grab a few groceries and then came back home. So now we're trying to decide how to spend the rest of the day. It's getting quite hot out again.

Lance is thinking of putting on his swim trunks and sitting in Reece's little pool with a bottle of beer. I may spend the rest of the afternoon reading.

I am supposed to make homemade macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight, but I'm not sure I want to add any more heat to the house. We need to come up with a plan B. We already had a barbecue last night, and instead of making the sides that I normally make (baked beans and corn or au gratin potatoes), I ran out to the grocery store and picked up a container of coleslaw for me and a twice baked potato for Lance (they sell those in the deli case and they are absolutely delicious). So I nuked his potato when the burgers were close to being done and I didn't have to worry about heating up the kitchen. We had a nice dinner al fresco (will be nicer once we rip out the current patio and do a new one, landscape the backyard properly, and have a real patio set).

In home improvement news, I found the exact flooring I want at Lowe's today - I want to do the peel and stick laminate flooring that we can put over the existing kitchen floor. Our home is basically a starter home anyway, so we don't want to do top of the line upgrades to it, because we would basically be losing money. But we do want to update it. And I think the peel and stick flooring is the way to go. I found very nice faux slate laminate tiles that will look great with the wall color and the cabinetry. Only 97 cents per tile, and they are rather large, so it won't cost more than probably $100 to redo the kitchen floor. And we'll do the same to the bathroom floors and it will cost even less. There are also a few light fixtures that I want to replace, and we can buy some nice, if generic, ones at Lowe's in bulk. They look far nicer than the ones we currently have.

Today has been a pretty good day so far. Sad that the weekend is ending, but really looking forward to going home to Ohio next weekend. Lance was wondering what he was going to do while I am gone, but we discovered today that the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders are going to be at McChord next weekend, so he plans to go out there to get their autographs.
