Today is absolutely breathtaking, as so many have been lately. Warm, but not too warm, sunny, slight breeze.

Lance is watching football, but I didn't want to waste the whole morning indoors.

So Reece and I went out in search of new places to walk.

I used to like the Green River Trail here in Kent, but it is currently closed off for reconstruction until October 15th. I'm not exactly sure why, since as far as I could see, there was never anything wrong with the trail. But I came down this way anyway, to see if there was a detour of some sort.

There was, and we walked that later. First, I stumbled upon a place called Old Fishing Hole. It's a nice little pond with a lot of frogs and ducks. There is a walking path going around it. A couple of picnic spots. A very cool totem pole.

So we walked around the pond first and then took the Green River Trail detour, which I don't like nearly as well, but I only have to wait another month anyway until the trail reopens.

We walked for maybe an hour. I didn't keep track of time. It was enough to wear her out, and she's peacefully sacked out on the couch. We didn't even walk vigorously or anything. But I think the sun was enough to make her tired. She was certainly hotter than I was.

And the walk gave me a chance to clear my head and think about what I need to do to make myself happier. And I'm now taking those steps to do that.

Next weekend, Lance and I will be going to the Fremont Oktoberfest. I'm really looking forward to it, and only because I'm sure it'll be a million times better than *THE* Oktoberfest we went to last year. For one thing, it won't be a group bus tour. And that is probably the most important thing. The Fremont Oktoberfest is supposedly one of the better Oktoberfest celebrations in the world.

I was just looking at your Flickr set from your summer in Austria...

*sigh*

Sometimes I think I just need to forget how beautiful it is there, or I might go crazy. Not that it isn't beautiful here. But I just miss the more laidback lifestyle. The emphasis on family and long meals and enjoying life's simple pleasures.
