I woke up this morning sounding like my throat had been rubbed against a cheese grater. And I felt just as bad.

So needless to say, I'm home.

I went to the doctor this morning, and other than scoring a Z-pack to start kicking this evil virus's ass, I felt like I was completely wasting my time. The doctor looked at my throat and declared that it was inflamed.

Really? He went to medical school to tell me that? As if I didn't know. Then he felt along my neck with his cold hands of death, wrote me a scrip, and sent me on my way.

The library was just down the street and I had a few books on hold (Cherie Priest's trilogy, which I have long been meaning to read), so I went and picked those up.

I stopped at Target to get my scrip filled, and they said it would take about half an hour. Blah.

So to kill time, I stopped at Hollywood Video to pick up a couple of DVDs. I got Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day to watch this afternoon, and 21 to watch with Lance this weekend.

I stopped at the grocery store, hoping one of their soups of the day would be chicken noodle or chicken and dumplings. No such luck. They had chicken tortilla and chicken & corn chowder. Neither one suited. So I went to their chinese takeout area. I started ordering egg drop soup, but the woman behind the counter saw that I was sick and suggested hot and sour soup instead, telling me that it was really good for clearing out all the icky stuff. She let me sample some first. It's normally a bit spicy for my taste, but I ordered it anyway. And some potstickers.

So I'm sacked out on the couch now with my soup. I have plenty of lemon tea. That 2 hour errand wore me out though (I finally picked up my prescription and at least it was ready at the promised time). I may have to go back to bed and sleep for a bit.

It's weird being here without Reece. Lance took her last night and slept with her out in the living room, although periodically, she would come over and scratch at the bedroom door. This morning, I let her in after she scratched for quite some time, and she was starting to get really obnoxious until she heard me cough. Then she immediately settled down, curled up along my chest, wrapped her legs around my arm, and went to sleep. It was so soothing. I nearly cancelled her doggie daycamp appointment, but I figured it would be better for me if Lance took her there. I need a bit of peace and quiet, although the roofers working on the house across the street aren't helping to make a quiet environment.

At least it's a wet and cold day...the perfect weather for staying in.

Precisely. Which is why we love it and think it's well worth our $20.
