We're supposed to get some nasty rain/wind storms today...possible flooding.

I am nursing a constipated puppy. She is still going to doggie daycamp today, and I need to go out on my lunch break and get her some mineral oil. I read on several online sources that either that, or Metamucil, is ok to give to dogs in small doses. I tried natural applesauce last night, at the suggestion of a Petsmart trainer, but so far...nothing. All I have here in the house right now is Miralax and senna tablets, and I don't know if either of those are safe to give her.

Reece was out of sorts yesterday, and today she's just a pile of fur on the couch...mostly unmoving.

Poor sweetpea. I understand exactly how she feels. If this lasts into tomorrow, I will probably have to take her to the vet. Just trying to avoid that, due to cost and because I'm pretty sure she wouldn't like an enema.

Lance is in Oklahoma, and he's off today. I'm trying not to be irritated. Of course, I would be irritated if he were here with the day off too, because any day he gets off that I don't is irritating to me. (He deserves it, of course...but I just hate that we're open for business on most federal holidays.) But at least he could be here with Reece. I feel a bit bad about making her go to camp if she's not feeling well, but they'll crate her if the need arises. She might perk up once we get to Petsmart and the exercise will do her good.

It's Mom's birthday today, so I need to call her later.

I've heard good things about giving dogs canned pumpkin when they're constipated. Try Googling that.

I've heard the canned pumpkin idea as well. And you're right, the exercise will be good for her. A lot of movement may encourage other "movements."

In this same situation, my concern would be what led to the constipation. If she's on dog food all the time (no table scraps, etc) what got in her tummy that stopped up the works? Sadie had a lot of gastrointestinal issues on her old dog food, but when I switched her to Iams, they cleared up.

I'm willing to bet that it's all the stuff she finds in nature that somehow makes its way into her mouth.

I bet mulch will do that to a dog... Why in the name of all that is holy do dogs have to be so weird?

And lately she's been eating mud that contains old birdseed and worms. I'm betting that's what did it. She hasn't gone back to that spot in the yard since she started having this problem.
