I need to make working out a habit again, no matter how I squeeze that in. More walks with Reece. Pounding the pavement during my lunch break. Dusting off my workout DVDs (if Reece will allow me to even attempt anything...she usually thinks I'm playing and gets in my way).

I'm even looking into joining a gym. Even though I know I shouldn't because it's an extra expense I really don't need right now. I miss spinning class. I miss having free access to a gym.

(The base is 40 miles away, so that is not an option. We also have a gym in the adjacent building from where I work, but it's always crowded.)

I was even looking into Curves. Which is ridiculous because that is not at all how I like to work out. I'm not the circuit training type. But they have a free one week membership, so maybe it wouldn't hurt to try.

All I know is, SOMETHING must be done. Before too much more of this pudge creeps back on. I've gained about 10 pounds or so since I started working at Paychex.

Damn my stupid sit-down job. I hated jobs that required me to be on my feet all day, but at least they helped keep my weight in check. And the stress I go through and the mental exhaustion is hardly a motivator to get up and get moving. And chocolate is our answer to everything bad at work (we have a co-worker with a constant stash of Swiss chocolate at her desk and she doles it out regularly.)

This madness HAS GOT TO STOP.

Good grief, even Lance is now jogging. And if he can do it, I sure as hell can.

I went to Curves once to try it out because a former co-worker was a member. I didn't like it at all, it was all very low impact exercises and the circuit was annoying because you're facing each other at all times. I don't mind working out with a buddy but I don't have look at him/her the entire time. Curves seemed more like a place for old ladies to go and move around a little while they have their chats.

Pretty much what I figured. I like a little room to move and not be in such close proximity with strangers.

I may just end up going the traditional gym route, if I can find a decent membership price. All I know is, I need to get moving. I don't want to end up being as big as I was in 2006.

Before I read your last line I was going to recommend running because it's been great for me. It is cheap and you can run around your neighborhood. You can even train Reece to run with you.

Reece already runs with Lance. She's more of a runner than a walker. I can't jog or run, because of my asthma and my bad knees. But if Lance can exercise, there's no excuse for me not to. Believe me, he's even less disciplined than I am.
