So...Lance and I went to McChord to renew my military ID.

Which expires again in September. *rolls eyes*

Because he's up for re-enlistment then. And...if he gets promoted this year? Another ID when he puts on his new rank. This means possibly 3 new ID cards in about a year.

Crazy.

And I thought my ID photo turned out really well today. Too bad they can't use it on the next one.

ETA: No, you don't have to get it renewed for a promotion. But my last ID was renewed at the same time Lance got promoted, so perhaps that's where that train of thought came from.

It's beautiful and sunny right now - hovering somewhere between 55 and 60 degrees. I should be out enjoying it, but I just want a nap.

Reece's eye is better, by the way. I'm not concerned enough about it at the moment to schedule a vet appointment, but I'll just keep watching it.

huh. I didn't know you had to get a new ID when your spouse gets promoted. I just waited until mine expired and then got a new one.

I had to get my last one because Lance got promoted. At least, that's how I understood it. Because if he makes Master, my ID will have his old rank on it.

You don't have to get a new ID when your husband gets promoted. I had one with a wrong rank for 3+ years - finally got new one b/c mine expired.

Good to know. Because when I got my ID renewed at AFNORTH 4 years ago, it was the same time Lance changed rank. Maybe the two were just connected in my mind. We had only been married for a year and a half at the time, so my ID wouldn't have expired that soon, I don't think.

Just for reference, they won't let you get a new ID if the only thing that changes is rank. Or at least that's what they told me when I tried to get a new one when Mik got promoted to SSgt.

You have to renew your military ID if he gets promoted? Oops, I had no idea.

Haha and also oops, I should have read the replies first. Here they will only allow you to renew if it's 30 prior to expiration or if it's really, really torn. When Aaron was on R&R he had to beg and plead them because his chip was starting to rust (?) and wouldn't work in some CAC readers.
