Kathy called me this afternoon, checking to see if I still wanted company. She saw everything on Facebook concerning my friend, so she thought I might be too distraught to see them.

On the contrary, I think it helped. Besides, I was already preparing the pastitsio when she called.

Dinner was pretty good. I personally thought the pastitsio was a bit on the bland side, but otherwise came out well. It got rave reviews, and there was very little of it left over. We had feta-stuffed crescent rolls, homemade tzatziki (Kathy brought some), Greek salad, olives and a lemon pudding cake for dessert.

Yeah, not the traditional Easter dinner. But what mattered is that we were with friends.

I had to add some red wine to the pastitsio, and I had a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. I always keep a bottle of red on hand for guests. There is plenty of it left, so I took a sip of it while dinner was cooking. You know, it's actually pretty good! I'm really not a big fan of red wine, but this is very drinkable. I shared a bit of it with Kathy after dinner.

Because Beckett loves the movie Cars and we happened to have it on hand (Kathy loaned it to me the other day), we put that in the DVD player for the evening's entertainment. I didn't watch much of it. I was too interested in other things going on around the house - Reece's interactions with everyone, Beck wandering around from room to room (toddlers have short attention spans, you know)...Kathy brought hardware to finish off the glass jewelry we made several weeks ago, so we worked on that a little bit. Lance watched most of the movie and seemed to like it really well.

Anyway, it was a good time, despite the dreariness and rain.

Kathy and Rich brought some stuff for us too - a mini crockpot and some cheeses from Rich's father's food shop. We usually keep a lot of cheese on hand for snacking, and now we won't need to buy any for awhile.

Anyway, I need to go to bed soon...and I dread tomorrow.

I'll tell you a little bit about my friend Lisa.

I met her a year ago, when we were in corporate training in Rochester. We were in payroll specialist school together for 2 weeks. While I didn't hang out with her a lot while we were there, I did go out with her a few times, and I had a chance to hang out with her at the hotel and just chat about stuff. We stayed in touch ever since.

Anyway, those of us who were in payroll specialist class together - at least those of us with a Facebook - have been in touch with each other throughout the day. I'm trying to organize a floral bouquet from all of us for the funeral...or perhaps a charitable donation, if that suits better. Up to her husband which is more appropriate.

Tomorrow will be hard. That's when all of us will be sending emails back and forth...remembering things about her and so forth. And I have a super busy day tomorrow, which is both a blessing and a curse. I am thinking about the people at the Paychex branch in Las Vegas - where Lisa worked - and can only imagine the horror that they'll be walking into tomorrow morning. And her clients. So many people feeling this loss...if Lisa had only realized it.

Glad y'all had a nice Easter. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Sometimes no matter how many people care it's just the hopelessness that they feel. She's at peace now. HUGS!
