And there is much rejoicing!
May. 25th, 2009 08:10 pmTHE PAINTING IS DONE!!! Four days. Three gallons of primer. Two gallons of paint. Lots of bickering and silliness. And we're done!
Everything looks good. The color covers the hallway, entryway and living room, all of which flow into each other, so it made total sense to paint them all the same color. With the color being as light as it is and the light we've had flooding into the room all weekend, there were spots that we missed. I think the texture of the wall had a lot to do with that too. You have to look closely to see them, but they're there, and they bug me. I noticed a particularly conspicuous spot high up near the ceiling once we put everything away. It will be fixed. But we were just anxious to be done at that point, so we didn't touch it.
We finished early enough that we could both go and pick up Reece. We brought her home, had a cookout (burgers and some pork and beans that I threw together in my mini crockpot), took Reece for a mile and a half walk, and we just enjoyed our treat for the weekend's hard work - DQ Blizzards, which we picked up on the way home from Petsmart.
We didn't even use half the paint we bought, which kind of ticks me off. It's so hard to judge how much paint you'll need, and with the wall soaking up a lot of primer, we overestimated the amount of paint we needed. We bought a 5 gallon bucket. So we have more than half leftover, and I'm thinking that since Kathy has mentioned before that she and Rich plan to paint at some point, if they like the color, we will let them have the rest of the paint. If not, I suppose we can donate it to Habitat for Humanity. I don't want to paint any more rooms in this color.
Even though we gave up a holiday weekend to work on the house (Ah...the joys of home ownership), we still had a relaxing evening. I dread going to work tomorrow. It's going to be crazy busy. But that will make the day go faster, at least. And I just have to keep reminding myself that Friday is my last day. And Friday cannot come soon enough, believe me (and it will likely also be the SLOWEST. DAY. OF. MY. LIFE).
