B-day stuff
Jun. 12th, 2009 03:52 pmI was getting ready to run out and take care of a couple errands when the doorbell rang. Two packages on our doorstep, both from amazon.com. Obviously, the order I put in last week from the gift card that I won, and the present that Paula ordered from my wishlist.
So...she got me two books:
Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir by Natalie Goldberg
Her book, Writing Down the Bones was life-changing for me. I'm looking forward to reading this one.
The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue
I believe I added this to my wishlist when I read a review of it on curledup.com. It's historical fiction, taking place in Victorian England.
And so, I ran my errands...or at least one of them, anyway. I tried to mail off the care package to Guam, but the post office didn't have any flat rate Priority Mail boxes in the size I needed. And I wasn't going to pay their ridiculous prices for packing materials. I'll see if I can't find a box here to fit everything.
Headed off to Target to pick up prescriptions. They weren't ready (I'm supposed to be on auto-refill, and they're usually ready by this time). So I was told to come back in 15 minutes. Which led me to the clothing section to browse. Which led me to the cutest purple sundress that I just had to have. Thankfully, I had some birthday money in my wallet, so I could justify buying it. Birthday money is not to be used for practical purposes.
So...I think I'll wear this dress tomorrow when Lance and I go exploring downtown. It's just a casual dress, nothing fancy.
Home for the rest of the afternoon. We'll have leftovers for dinner (pasta and meat sauce from Wednesday night), but probably eat outside, since it's warm. I need to take Reece for a walk. I'm feeling a bit more myself now. Not nearly as out of it as I was feeling earlier.
